Ar Tonelico 2 sings a song in December

arton2.jpgHey Ar Tonelico fans, get ready to dive into more cosmospheres. NIS America hasn’t forgotten about you. They just waited for an opportune time to announce Ar Tonelico 2 for North America. The plan is to bring it out in December as many of you are already aware of thanks to a number of tips. I hinted at the release too if anyone caught the “?” mark box last month.

While we’re waiting for more details NIS America sent over a summary which gives us a glance at the localization process. Take a look below.

The region of Metafalss surrounds Infel Pira, the second Tower, which is said to represent the Goddess Frelia of the Trio A mysterious epidemic called Infel Pira Dependency (IPD) has been killing Reyvateils. Croix, a young knight from the Church of Pastalia, is sent to contain the epidemic. However, many more challenges await, which lead him to unraveling the mysteries of the planet Ar Ciel and seek the legend handed down by the people of Metafalss: the lost Song of Metafalica.

    Awesome. I hope they put out a trailer or something soon.

  • Penguin

    So, is the platform going to be PS2?
    I’d expect at PSP release, tbh.

  • jeffx

    Excellent, played the first to death.

    @Volcynika – Here’s a bunch of trailers from Ar Tonelico II from Gust.

    @Penguin – It’s PS2 just like Japan.

  • Volcynika

    Oo, thanks! My friend is kinda wondering about the names of the Reyvateils in this one because one of them is kinda weird, I think it’s Luca and Cloche (Cloche is a weird name), but that’s just in the artwork for their announcement stuff. Looks like Persona 4 and this are getting my money in December.

  • Hello Hello

    I was really looking forward to this but now I’m only kind of looking forward to it. After that screw job that NISA did to us with the English voice acting in Mana Khemia, I’m afraid they’re going to do the same thing to us again with Ar tonelico II.

    Great news. I have yet to play the 1st one, but I´m glad that the 2nd one will be available if I like it. I just hope that this time, the game includes japanese voices in the cutscenes…

    I´m glad that the PS2 is still getting new games…I hope the Wii stays this long as well.

    Now, if someone could convince Square-Enix and Bandai-Namco to localize some of its Japan-only games…(Front Mission 5 and Tales games come to mind) that would be swell…

    By the way, does anyone know if the “sexual innuendo” of the 1st game was already on the japanese version ? or was it added in the localization ? I hope it wasn´t the latter, because I want the translations to be as faithful to the original as possible…

  • RagolSlayer

    @seiya19 – Yes, the sexual innuendos in Ar tonelico were present in the Japanese version.

    And sadly, I doubt that Front Mission 5 will ever get an English localization. Front Mission 4 bombed in sales (even though a good deal of it was Square-Enix’s fault) and Front Mission the 1st (the DS one) only did alright.

    Namco-Bandai seems only interested in porting the Tales games it knows will succeed in the US, like Symphonia.

  • seiya19

    @RagolSlayer

    Ok, thanks. And yes, I know that there´s practically zero chance that we see Front Mission 5 localized, as well as the PS2 Tales games. I just posted wishful thinking… Right now, I even doubt that we´ll see Front Mission 2089 localized…and I don´t have any hopes for Tales of Innocence either.

  • RagolSlayer

    Well at least both FM5 and Tales of Innocence have fan translations being worked on. ^_^.

  • seiya19

    @RagolSlayer

    Front Mission 5 too ? I knew about Tales of Innocence but not about this one… I´ll look for it. Although the problem with a fan translation for PS2 would be the subtitles for the FMVs…

  • D-5

    @RagolSlayer: Except for Abyss, of course (Which is a shame. I really liked Abyss a lot).

    Back to the topic at hand, are the Ar Tonelico games fun to play?
