The Virtual Console train picks up steam with Ys

ysi.jpgSince WiiWare launched in North America the Virtual Console has taken a backseat. Even in Japan the Virtual Console train is slowing down. Does anyone really want to buy Street Fighter II: Championship Edition on the Virtual Console when they can get Street Fighter II Turbo? At least next week we’re getting something noteworthy. Hudson will release Ys Book I & II for a paltry 800 Wii Points ($8). That's like $4 per Ys game! SNK sent over an e-mail saying Samurai Shodown II will also be available on Monday too, but I would hold out on that since we’ll eventually get Samurai Shodown Anthology.

In the distant horizon there are two Earthworm Jim games. Earthworm Jim was rated by the ESRB months ago. The Sega Genesis version of Earthworm Jim 2 just got rated for the Wii today. I guess we can always look forward to Super Mario RPG, but Nintendo won’t release that until the WiiWare storm blows over.

I’ve been waiting almost a year for this one. I wonder if we’ll get the TCD Ys III too eventually?

Finally! I never understood why it took this long for the US version of Ys to be released on VC, and now I can replay it with a slightly cleaner picture than on my old TurboDuo.
I also hope we get Ys III at some point, too…

It’s about time! Too bad I won’t have much time to play it… and my “refrigerator” is full.

Fucking finally.

Rock on! Ys is my favorite series.
