Chocobo’s mysterious Wi-Fi connectivity

During TGS, a Square Enix representative shared some information on a feature of the two upcoming Chocobo titles for the Nintendo DS. Chocobo’s Dungeon and the sequel to Chocobo Tales will have Wi-Fi connectivity between them, allowing owners of each title to play card battles with one another.

The card battles are a continuation of the Pop-Up Duel game found in the first two Final Fantasy Fables titles. The connectivity feature of Square Enix’s two portable titles is mentioned on the official Chocobo website under the Pop-Up Duel menu added this week. There will also be the option of playing card battles with someone who shares the same DS Chocobo title.

While neither “Cid and Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon” or “The Witch, The Girl and the Five Heroes” have been confirmed for an English-language release, the localizations may well share a release window for the sake of preserving this Wi-Fi feature in other territories.
