Powerup Forever Targeting Xbox Live Arcade Next Week

By Spencer . December 5, 2008 . 7:44pm

We’re not getting Otomedius Gorgeous and R-Type Dimensions isn’t coming until next year. What do shooter fans have to look forward to in 2008? How about Powerup Forever. Namco Bandai’s original shooter has a strange name, but an awesome concept. Powerup Forever is like Fl0w meets Geometry Wars. You pilot an evolving ship on a series of randomly generated levels. Here’s a look at it.

Since Japan is getting Power Up Forever as next week’s Xbox Live Arcade game I’m betting that we’re going to see it in North America too. The only Xbox Live Arcade game Japan got first was Shotest Shogi which was obviously designed with Japan in mind. There is a PlayStation 3 version of PowerUp Forever in development too. Perhaps, it’s coming out on PSN next week as well since it would be best for Namco Bandai if they didn’t scatter the release dates of their multiplatform games.

“We’re not getting Otomedius Gorgeous and R-Type Command isn’t coming until next year. What do shooter fans have to look forward to in 2008?”

R-Type Command already came out as a PSP game earlier this year via Atlus, and isn’t a shooter at all, but a hex strategy game. The announced R-Type title for XBLA is R-Type Dimensions, which is likely the shooter you are talking about. Unless, of course, you know something we don’t ^_^
