Square Enix Jumps Into Xbox Live Arcade, Original Games And Popular Titles Coming

By Spencer . January 22, 2009 . 10:50am

image No surprise here since screenshots of Yosumin were leaked and Crystal Defenders was officially announced today. Now that the cat is out of the bag Square Enix set a target for Yosumin Live – this spring and you can bet that won’t just be for Japan.

These two games are the beginning of Square Enix’s Xbox Live Arcade portfolio. An announcement made by Microsoft explains more Square Enix developed original games and popular titles are forthcoming. The “popular titles” part piques my interest. Could we see Secret of Mana Live in the future?

  • Square Enix and Microsoft sure are getting along! I’m not implying any sort of conspiracy, since gamers getting games is all that matters, but wow. I sort of plunked down for a PS3 expecting the flood of Square and/or Enix titles to continue from the PS2, so this is just head-scratchingly good news for those with a 360.

In any case, I look forward to seeing what these original and popular titles may be =)

    • The first xbox sucked (sorta) in amount of Japanese games so I doubt your alone in thinking about skipping the 360 on first impression. I’m just annoyed Square-Enix doesn’t do more things with Nintendo’s consoles. Without them they might of been dead.

As for the topic, Yosumin was fun of the flash version I played. I’ll be sure to play that series. Has the DS version been picked up for US release?

More original titles from S-E? :D

Ha, no kidding. Anyway, this is great news, I’m a Live addict!

Well damn, I just hope most of it comes to PSN as well.
