Visit These Real World Locations In Yakuza 3

ymatsu1 Sega blends fantasy and reality with their Yakuza series. Past games tied in products like Suntory beverages and we-have-everything discount retailer Don Quijote. Yakuza 3 will go a step further and let Kiryu Kazuma have a meal in Matsuya.

Matsuya is a fast food chain in Japan that deals local cuisine like Japanese curry rice plates. The chain is best known for being a beef bowl vendor. Here’s what the restaurant looks like in the PlayStation 3 game.

Once you’re done eating you can bring Kiryu to Karaoke-kan for a “singing” mini-game. If you ever wander around Shinjuku or Shibuya you’ll notice one of these. Karaoke-kan booths are found in dense areas, commonly close to train stations.

Matsuya was in the first 2, and the look hasn’t changed.

If they localize the game here, I wonder how they will handle the Karaoke? If this comes to the States, I’ll buy a PS3! I don’t care if it’s dubbed, subbed, or both (the best option)!

I hope they learned the right lesson from Yakuza 2 (which is, don’t take so long to translate something that the console you released it on became out of date) and not the wrong lesson (that there’s no market for this kind of thing in the US.)

Big budgeted triple-A games aren’t needed anymore. When will developers realize this? Developing games on a smaller scale is the key to success now.
