Mario And Sonic Face Off At The Olympic Games… Again

By Spencer . February 12, 2009 . 11:32am

To the surprise of no one Sega officially announced Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. After selling 10 million copies of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games you know they have to give the game a sequel. Just like the previous Mario & Sonic crossover this game is set to debut before the 2010 Winter Olympics. Sega plans to release Nintendo DS and Wii versions in late 2009 which puts Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games around the holidays.

Two events have been confirmed alpine skiing and speed skating. Sega plans to utilize the Wii Balance Board for the console version and it’s easy to imagine one event where it will be used. Just watch the teaser trailer to see Mario and Sonic snowboarding.

10 million copies?! Then isn’t that Sega’s best selling game…. like ever?

Nagoshi oversees the Sports Design team btw. He’s pretty much steward over all SEGA’s new 3rd party hits it seems (Super Monkey Ball, Yakuza, Mario & Sonic), talk about golden touch.

W/ the mascot power of Mario & Sonic it’s a sure win. Last time I spoke to a older woman and was surprised she has played this on the Wii too w/ her grand children. A perfect holiday gift for kids.
