Capcom teased an announcement over Xbox Live and all the hype was for Lost Planet 2. Instead of blowing up Akrid in tundra the “Snow” Pirates head to a swamp / jungle base. Mecha, or as Capcom calls them Vital Suits, are still part of the game. New for Lost Planet 2 is a cover system. The trailer shows troops scrambling behind objects and a defensive soldier use an expandable metal shield. Looks like Lost Planet got some ideas from other FPS games like Gears of War.

Jun Takeuchi, the producer of Resident Evil 5, is acting as the producer of Lost Planet 2. Kenji Oguro, the director of Lost Planet, will reprise his role for the sequel.
