G.Rev Ports Another Shmup To Xbox 360

Senko no Ronde developer G. Rev continues to add to the Xbox 360’s line up of shoot ’em ups by converting Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta. This vertical shooter is more like a run and gun game since you move your character instead of auto scrolling through a level.

Mamoru was released in arcades last year and the console version is scheduled to come out in Japan this June. Unfortunately, like Senko no Ronde before it this is a boxed retail game so unless Ubisoft or another publisher picks this up for international distribution Mamoru-kun wa Norowarete Shimatta is staying in Japan. With all of the coming Cave ports and Shooting Love 200X its getting more tempting to just import a Japanese Xbox 360.

  • I’m intrigued at the self-scrolling features of this game. I don’t think I’ve ever seen another SHMUP do that! The game looks fun but way too cute for most American publishers. Oh and that music was clearly composed with massive ZUN/Touhou influence.

  • Wow, that looks fantastic, I really need to get a Japanese Xbox 360. I’m just too god damn scared it’ll RROD on me.

The self-scrolling feature is indeed interesting, but the way the player’s movements are limited by the environment are reminiscent of Cave’s Guwange.

  • Seeing how Ubisoft’s release of Senko was a big fiasco sales-wise they’ll probably not try anything like it again. I’ll put my money on a niche-publisher like D3, 505 Games or Rising Star/Marvelous. We should at least send them e-mails :D
