Gust Gets Busy With PS3 Development

By Spencer . March 11, 2009 . 10:33am

arClassic RPG developer Gust tested waters on the Nintendo DS and flirted with the PSP with a Mana Khemia port. Now they made a decision on which of the three consoles they will develop for. Drum roll please… its the PlayStation 3 and they are bringing the Atelier series to Sony’s console.

A teaser ad in Dengeki PlayStation announced Atelier Rorona as a PlayStation 3 game. The image looks like it has character art and a rather somber message of a heroine or perhaps a hero who is tired of saving the world. Unless Gust has a plot that doesn’t deal with imminent doom someone is going to have to save the world again. More details will be revealed in the March 27 issue of Dengeki PlayStation. I’m hoping for high resolution sprite art.

  • YESSSS. *pumps fist*

Now let’s hope for Ar tonelico 3 on the PS3 with high-res sprites.

  • BAH, now I REALLY have to get a PS3

  • Volcynika

Yay! Saw this last night, good to know I have a Gust game to look forward to. If anything, I know I’ll love the music.

  • BlackFreefall

Take that Namco Bandai (yes I’m still bitter that they didn’t release Tales of Vesperia for the PS3. I guess I have to get it for the 360)

  • Death

So is this the beginning of the end for Playstation 2 development in Japan? If Gust and Nippon Ichi Software can afford it, surely Altus can afford it, right? (But I want to see Persona 5 on Wii instead, lol)

  • I’m very happy from this news. Kind of makes me sad I sold my three Atelier Iris games because I had a period of my life where I was dirt poor and had to sacrifice some of my favorite games.

  • Wishy

@[email protected] Must come to Canada…

  • Yes! No hassle importing it then >D

  • Awesome. Next up is Atlus announcing SMT4 or Persona 5 on the PS3.

  • Mazen

As for me I hope for a cell shaded 3d but I think its too expensive for them.
