Gyromancer Sounds Like A Brand New Square Enix IP

By Spencer . July 29, 2009 . 10:41am

image Square Enix has been rolling in dough from remakes and spin offs, but Gyromancer sounds totally unrelated to Final Fantasy.

The house of Dragon Quest registered a trademark for Gyromancer in the US and Patent trademark database. No word on what this game is, but as a pie in the sky guess I’m putting my chips on a downloadable game.

Square Enix has some experimental titles like Death By Cube and 0 Day Attack on Earth coming to Xbox Live Arcade. Perhaps, Gyromancer will be another one of them.

I immediately thought of a Gyroscope like title. I’d kinda want that.

I immediately thought about the Final Fantasy job class, Geomancer.

It definitely sounds like a downloadable game. SE has been pretty download-happy recently. It’s understandable, too, with the success of FFVII on PSN I think they may release that there is a lot of potential for their games on it.

For that matter, SE needs to release more of their PSX games on PSN. My FFVIII disk is awfully scratched and I’m worried about freezing, and I’ve played Xenogears so often in 11 years that I’ve burned through two new physical copies of the game. SE, you can make a good amount of money through these re-releases, come on! I know I’m not the only one who wants to see them.

I typically enjoy SE IPs, so I’ll watch out for this. I just hope SE moves away from the cash printer (DS). I love my DS, but I have such a backlog on it already.

  • motion plus title?

  • Ah, I remember playing that game with R.O.B.
As for this new one, it sounds “magical”.

    • If Gyromancer stars a magical R.O.B. the robot I’m sold!

    Gyromancer? That sounds magically delicious.
