I was going to mention Hanako Games too, but aren't all their games western-based, as well?

Haven't tried this one, but enjoyed Summer Session — a school based relationship sim. Hanako Games is another company doing nice Japanesque titles; their two best known titles are Fatal Hearts, another VN and Cute Knight, a Princess Maker like where you play the young girl.
