Sengoku Basara Battling Its Way Out Of Japan?

image No, I’m not thinking about Devil Kings, Capcom’s adaptation Sengoku Basara which dropped the Japanese historical ties in favor of demons. I’m talking about the actual Sengoku Basara series.

Capcom trademarked Sengoku Basara in the USA, a sign that they may bring the series to the West. It’s probably too late for Sengoku Basara 2, but I can imagine Capcom releasing Sengoku Basara: Battle Heroes as a downloadable PSP game. All they need to do is translate the text and put it on the PlayStation Store, which is the same thing they did with Fate/Unlimited Codes

Well, they could still bring over the Wii version of Sengoku Basara 2, which is a double-pack that has both SB2 and SB2: Heroes, which is an expansion disc to SB2.

Then we could potentially get Sengoku Basara 3 as well!

      That’s what I want.

I expect they’ll do an entire series relaunch here. SB2+H Wii/PS2, Battle Heroes PSP, SB3 Wii, probably in that order. The only one I really think we’re likely *not* to get is SBX.

Capcom USA has said multiple times that they’re over and done with the PS2. Basically they feel it’s a diminishing market that only goes for bargains so you can’t release games at full price anymore.

That being their reasoning, of course.

Sengoku Basara is a great series and I’m glad it’s being released outside of Japan. That stupid ‘Devil Kings’ crap was a disgrace to fans of Sengoku, let’s just pretend it didn’t exist. I mean, why change a games story and characters? It’s perfect the way it is.

And the messed up thing is that “Devil Kings” wasn’t even Capcom USA’s idea… It was the producer’s idea, as he felt that Japanese history would be too confusing to American gamers, and this was after we had already gotten Samurai Warriors and plenty of Dynatsy Warriors games.

Hopefully now they realize that it’s better to not change the whole feel of a game, even if it means some slight confusion.

And we alrdy have Onimusha too.. well, I guess Nobunaga is and always will be the root of all evil in the world of video gaming :)

Aside from how poorly received Devil Kings was, bringing forth future titles as Sengoku Basara also makes sense considering how Funimation licensed the anime under its original title. Seems like the brand can definitely be reborn here correctly.

Now hand over Basara X too, Capcom.

I totally forgot about SBX. I’d love to see it brought over here as a PSP/PSN title, with a couple gameplay tweaks.

Well, the first season of the anime was licensed for America by Funimation, so…
