Nintendo of America announced Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver, remakes of Pokemon Gold & Silver will arrive in North America and Europe in spring 2010.

 

Both games have been enhanced with upgraded graphics, touch screen features, and “a host of surprises.” Interestingly, Nintendo did not mention the Pokewalker, a pedometer and replacement for the Pokemon Pikachu, which is bundled with the Japanese version. Perhaps, the device is one of Nintendo’s “surprises.”

 

Pokemon HeartGold and Pokemon SoulSilver debut in Japan on September 12.

    This will push me over the edge to a DSi.

    I haven't had enjoyment in this series since high school and the Gold copy I had. Hoo boy was it a 400+ hour time sink back then.

    Soulsilver for me, too! I actually owned Crystal previously, so I'm going to kick myself if they release an upgraded third release, but I can't wait that long!

    Yea, that's what I was thinking of, too. But this IS Nintendo, and you KNOW suckers like us would probably buy it. THEY know suckers like us would buy it. Every lick of business sense practically screams, “DO IT! DO IT!”

    …and yet, part of me hopes they'll fight that instinct and start working on something for DSi instead. Naivety?

    Don't worry Nintendo is already working on Pokemon: Pikachu's Crystal Soul for 2011. ;)

    I don't think you need a DSi for this, a regular DS will work too.

    The big surprise is either the Pokewalker, or that they've decided to tear my heart out, stomp on it with muddy cleats, then flush it down a nasty public toilet by deciding not to bother bringing the Pokewalker here.

    Either it will be packed in, be a pre-order bonus, or given as at a special event place. But I think it'll be packed in. Just keeping features “secret” for now.

    RSE, DP and Platinum were all released in Spring, it was a safe assumption to make.

    had crystal as well. The only upgraded pokemon game I ever bought….but I may just cave in and buy platinum as well. XD

    I'm not in the right COUNTRY for any special events! I'm seriously thinking of saving up for this game just for the Pokewalker.
    Of course, SoulSilver would most likely be my pick. :D
