Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble Not Intimidated By Holiday Rush

By Spencer . September 3, 2009 . 8:00pm

image Atlus confirmed what we discovered two weeks ago, Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble is coming out this year. When the game was first announced, Atlus slated it for early 2010.

An e-mail from Atlus explaining the definition of “bancho” came with a new release date, November 10. Oh, and if you didn’t know “Bancho” is a Japanese word that means “the strongest person in a school or group, one who leads through power and intimidation.”

If I had to summarize “bancho” with a picture, this image with Takashi staring someone down with laser eyes would be it.

ATLUS may not be intimidated by it, but I am. I have way too many games to play and I don’t have the time or resources to play them all. I might have gotten this if it were not in the Holiday season, but as of now I simply have too many games higher on my priority list. It’s a shame, too, since these smaller ATLUS titles sell out quickly.

  • Hah, you just can’t get enough of that picture, can’t you?? I think it’s the third time I see it on Siliconera. Not that I blame you! It sure sums up the game pretty well.

However I’m disappointed they dropped the final “u”. It’s BANCHOU (番長), not Bancho. But then I imagine most people would pronounce it BANCHOW or something.

The game’s called “badass”,I would feel insulted if they didn’t prove it :D.

atlus knows their consumer base. the holiday rush is not something that would sway the already-decided kenka bancho buyer. they may have trouble in a crowded marketplace, but the people who were planning on buying it will still buy it. they can count on that.

  • Bancho is an easy buy. Thankfully they didn’t turn it into a downloadable only game!
