Rockin’ Android Rockin’ On To Consoles

By Spencer . September 8, 2009 . 12:50pm

imageRockin’ Android started off with translated compilations of Suguri and Gundemonium, two doujin games, for PC. In the future, some of their indie developed shooters are coming to consoles.

“Porting our games over to Xbox Live, PSN and WiiWare has always been part of the plan,” Enrique Galvez, President of Rockin’ Android explained to Siliconera. “We made a splash at Comic-Con International recently and received a lot of attention from the big guys, so it’s in the works for next year. Sadly, I can’t say too much yet.”

Rockin’ Android blasted onto the scene with a smorgasbord of shooters, all of which are homebrew titles from Japan. To date, Rockin’ Android released four titles: Suguri Perfect Edition, Gundemonium Collection, Flying Red Barrel, and most recently Qlione which has a style reminiscent of Geometry Wars.

Galvez couldn’t tell us too much about their console plans, but he gave us a behind the scenes look at the Rockin’ Android “machinery” and commented on Touhou. Look for the full interview on Siliconera later this week.

  • Well, Gundemonium isn’t out yet. But I’m EXTREMELY looking forward to that interview.

Flying Red Barrel is a fantastic shooter.

I really want to read that interview now.

Oohhh, if they could only get their hands on Touhou! They’d go down in overseas doujin history! (Which, admittedly, is still pretty light–if it were a blog, Warning Forever being dual-language would still be on its first page.)

Speaking of shmups, did you get Aa Mujou Setsuna yet Spence? Think it’s worth 500 DSi points? So far there is nothing to buy. Jenni should get Himitsu no Oooku if she has a DSi :)

    • Yes! I got it and I’ve been playing. The small hitbox threw me off though, you can and have to fly through small shots.

Playing shmup on the DS screen sounds like killing one’s eyes. I saw the trailer and the blue cubes look annoying.. but everyone’s saying how great the Ketsui DS port was (and rare now), good thing it’s coming out on 360. I’m still waiting for Raiden IV, my gamestop said they would have it today but didn’t, and the website says now it’s rdy to ship.. the wait :(…
