Well, this is certainly different. WiiWare is known for its awesome platformers and sidescrollers but Swedish publisher Legendo Entertainment is putting three episodic Pearl Harbour games on it this year and the next.
Pearl Harbor Trilogy is a "re-interpretation" of Legendo’s air combat game Attack on Pearl Harbor for the PC. Atari published the original in Germany. The Wii version is being handled by Arcade Moon, the downloadable games division of this developer.
According to Legendo, they’re still working out what kind of control scheme would work best for the games and are attempting to lock down a smooth 60 frames-per-second. Currently, the game’s website indicates holding the remote sideways. Here’s a summary of the first episode:
In the premiere episode, “Red Sun Rising,” players will be dropped into the cockpit of famous USAAF World War II fighter aircraft — including the legendary P-40 Warhawk and the carrier-capable F4U Corsair as they battle with Japanese A6M2 Zero fighters and Aichi D3A Val dive-bombers in daring dogfights during bitterly contested air battles of the Pacific Theater, including Pearl Harbor, Wake Island and the Battle of Midway.
Red Sun Rising is scheduled for this Winter amidst a whole lot of high- profile WiiWare games. It’s nice to see a historical game that isn’t just another FPS. Between it, Tales of Monkey Island, World of Goo and Flower Garden, WiiWare and PC seem to share more games every week.
