Retail Version Of Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition Announced For North America

You can get Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition as a boxed game here too. Capcom announced Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, a retail package with Resident Evil 5 and all of the downloadable Alternative Edition episodes, costumes, and Mercenaries Reunion characters.

All of the content is on a Blu-ray disc for PlayStation 3. However, the Xbox 360 release is a DVD plus a token for the downloadable content.

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will retail for $49.99 when it arrives in stores on March 9, about a month after the first episode and costume pack are released online. Just a heads up for those of you who haven’t purchased Resident Evil 5. Best Buy will be selling the game without any of the Alternative Edition DLC for $19.99 on Black Friday.

Check out screenshots of Lost in Nightmares and the new costumes here.

March 9 is so far away!

Looks like I’ll be buying this then. PS3 version since you’ll never have to use another disc. I think Capcom didn’t use a second DVD for the 360 version because of the Fallout 3 and Oblivion GotY where you could use the disc on multiple 360s and everyone could download the GotY content without paying extra.

*edit* Didn’t mean this as a comment reply.

      • I will also buy this. I hate the idea of DLC but I’m quite content to get it bundled on disc at a later date (Fallout 3 GOTY). I hope they somehow do the same for GTAIV PS3, because I’ve yet to play it and Gay Tony sounds fabulous. The M$ money hats can’t last forever!

I alrdy have RE5 on 360, but I’m also getting this on PS3 w/ everything included instead of DLC, plus I want to try out the motion control and play it like RE4 Wii. I never had time to play Fallout 3 and just ordered GotY edition now, makes the wait kind of worthwhile. Thankfully I didn’t buy the Lost and Damned DLC either, so getting Gay Tony on a disc is perfect for me now. In fact, I just got these 2 games on Amazon w/ $20 off of $80.

No Alternate Edition stuff for PC version? That makes me sad :(

DLC voucher’s kind of strange, since it automatically locks out the 10+ million 360s who aren’t online. :/

Glad I can just get the extra content through XBL though, I wouldn’t want to rebuy RE5 full price just for extra costumes and 2 new scenarios. Do we know the separate dlc pricepoints yet?

  • Hrmmm… where is the mention of the Wii-like control in the PS3 version? : This news does make me happy though. As I already own the Xbox 360 version, and wanted to use the Wii-like controls but didn’t want to rebuy the same exact game then DLC just to do that. Glad the new PS3 version is all on disc.
