A Monster Rancher Refresher

The last Monster Rancher game came out three years ago. You may have forgotten what a Suezo is. Maybe you don’t know what a Suezo is. Fortunately, Temco has a refresher course for Monster Rancher DS.

Did you catch that magic spell bit? In the Japanese version, called Monster Farm DS 2, players could draw kana and kanji to make monsters. Since letters are more common than characters here, Tecmo will probably have to adapt it for letters. Incantation, a system where players make monsters by speaking into the DS’ microphone, may need tweaking too.

Monster Rancher DS is scheduled for release this spring.

  • This may be off topic but you guys think this would be good on the iphone? make monster out of your song like song summoner.

    • MadMirko

Speaking of Song Summoner, that would be good on DSi, too.

  • kupomogli

I’ve said this for plenty of games, but since the Monster Rancher tournament battles play like they are widescreen, this is another game that would fit the PSP much better.

I’d say they could add the disc swapping feature back, but then it’d limit the amount of monsters because you could only use PSP and UMD movie format discs. Maybe integrate the word system they’ve started to use as well as the disc swapping feature? That way you can get some really rare monsters from owning a certain game, but you could get most every monster by putting in different letters, etc.

  • *sigh* I’m gonna spend hours upon hours of just sitting there creating monsters… I just know it.
