Any Questions For 3D Dot Game Heroes Developer Silicon Studio?

By Spencer . March 9, 2010 . 2:16pm

imageSometime this week, I’m scheduled to interview the President of Silicon Studio. They make middleware, but you probably know them as the developers of 3D Dot Game Heroes. Prior to their Zelda homage they made a visually striking PSP puzzle game similar to Cursor*10 called Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke.

Since we’re speaking with Silicon Studio – is there anything you want to ask them? No guarantees, but I’ll do my best to address your questions!

CAN YOU SPEED UP TIME! I want to play this now….like right now!

Ok but for reals now: Can we expect to see any future dlc?

  • MisterNiwa

    My question is..

How did the idea come up with a game like Zelda combined with oversized swords?

  • AQuatermain

Do they plan to work on games for other systems? I played Cursor * 10 in PC and knowing that no Onore no Shinzuru Michi wo Yuke is based on this, I do not dislike a Wii version (by way of control).

Are there any specific challenges a smaller developer faces when creating PS3 games? Especially games with such a unique style.

How does Silicon Studio feel about the rather cool reception of 3D Dot Game Heroes in Japan? Are they surprised at the apparent popularity of the game in North America and Europe?

Which is their favorite fan-created Hero?

Please tell him why they didn’t make the game view 3rd person behind the shoulder view (like Zelda OOT, Wind Waker) instead of the currently bird eye view (like Zelda 1,3) was it because of gameplay purposes or technical hurdles? doesn’t he feel if they make a sequel for this game and used 3rd person view it will give a stronger feel of being inside these old classics worlds?
Thanks and Keep up the amazing work Spencer.

  • What obstacles stand in the way of porting?

Are they pleased with 3D Dot Game Heroes´s sales in japan?

Why did they choose the PS3 in the first place?

  • Why did I think FROM Software was the developer?

    • MisterNiwa

Good one, i thought the same thing.

“Is this your way of saying that games should pick up some of the older conventions, or is it a “simple” homage?”

    I guess

    One question:

Engine wise, the game uses lots of effects but is a cakewalk in terms of geometry… all three generatios of consoles could replicate the game without a hitch, even the Wii (with some tweaking, sure). So, it seems like a no brainer to want to porting to other systems and offer it to more players than just the lowest userbase system currently.
As the game is set to be published by Atlus on Noth America, thus Sony doesn’t seem to own the rights to nothing. Can it be done, and if so are you planing to port it in the future?
