Meet Xenoblade’s Hero, Heroine, And Past Hero

By Spencer . April 15, 2010 . 10:34am

imageNintendo updated the Xenoblade site with character introductions for Shulk, Fiorung, and Dunban.

Shulk appears to be the protagonist in Xenoblade. On his page, he mentions trying to unlock the power of Monado, the name of the sword and temporary title for the game in the West. Fiorung, the only female character in the group, says she wants to fight alongside someone. Dunban once wielded Monado, defeated the Kishin army, and is regarded as a hero to the Homs.

There are more characters in Xenoblade. The official site has slots for seven characters, but only revealed these three.

Xenoblade is due in Japan on June 10.

    Well the names suck

    • Saturnus

Who the hell comes up with these names? ‘Shulk’? Really?

    • One of the rare times I kinda hope they change the names when they bring this to the west!

  • Ereek

I can’t say I’m all that fond of what I’m seeing here, but it’s TT. I love TT and I’m hoping it ends up good.

  • MrMee

Sweet, I look forward to this! The names may not be ideal, but they are original at least.

  • i like the drawings, is good when they try to change the standards of drawings

  • wharcraff

Well maybe when it gets here they can rename them Sully, Fiora and Duban. Artwork’s nice though.

I’m pretty sure that’s what’d happen, sometimes the names in Jpn don’t sound bad per se, but they use these funky weird English spelling. These names are even worse than N3’s… I actually like the drawings, too bad the CG models look so weird..

Glad to see Im not the only one who thinks the in game models look strange. They look like something you see when looking though a fish eye, like the nose is oulled down and forwardand the eyes apart. The art is very nice though.

        • Aoshi00

yeah, I think you described it the best, their profile is all whacked. I watched the trailers two more times and they just weird me out. They look like the fishes in Nemo except they’re not cute and like a fish-human hybrid monster or something, the CG looks nothing like the art.. I don’t get why people compare this to the Yoshida-designed Vagrant Story or FFXII chars… Actually the guy reminds me a little of Dilandau of the anime Escaflowne. and people say Nier is ugly… Magna Carta 2’s CG models look nothing like the arts too, but at least they look nice (like Claymore).

  • Remina

I’m looking forward to this being a good RPG on the Wii. Mine has been collecting dust since Mario Kart.

  • Tokyo Guy

Is it just me or do these characters reek of Final Fantasy 12? The main character might as well be Vaan, the female Ashe, and the other Bosch. Granted the costumes are modified but really now…

Does anyone know if the artwork is by the same man who did Xenogears/Xenosaga Episode 1?

    • Trotmeister

I doubt it. The style is totally different.

      • Tokyo Guy

True, and so are the faces. Also, in the picture with the girl, the man in the background smacks of Ashley Riot IMHO…

    • Remina

I was thinking the same thing.
