The Third Action-Packed Xenoblade Trailer

By Ishaan . April 21, 2010 . 8:32am

This third Xenoblade trailer starts out very anime-esque with the usual gasps and exclamations of “It can’t be!”, but the rest of it is appropriately chaotic and well put together. It’s no Soma Bringer, but it is by the same team, Monolith Soft. That’s some rocking soundtrack, too, in the background. Dare we let our laboriously controlled excitement run wild and free?

  • the face of dunban still a bit ugly besides that i loved every moment of the trailer

Lookin’ good. But still don’t like the character models.

  • Oh, i got goosebumbs, cool :D

I should be excited. I dunno, I just can’t seem to fall for this game, it looks weird and the plot seems to revolve almost solely around that sword. I’m not looking for more originality really, just… not what I see here. I’m a tough costumer.

Takahashi and Saga have done it again! That robot face at ~0:45. :o

The cut-scene direction is fantastic. I hope NoA releases this in 2010.

Only let down by the graphics lol

Music sounds great, they still haven’t shown much of the actual gameplay though…
In terms of graphics/art. Its just an overall ugly game. Style can make a game look better but this weird as hell dark muddy brown looking atmosphere only heightens the ugly graphics. Characters looks like shitty 3D models of Soma Bringer characters. This is essentially a less colorful Soma Bringer with shitty 3D. (Im talking about visuals only gameplay they look nothing alike)

Soma Bringer was amazing and Endless Frontier had a great battle system. Was not a fan of the Xenosaga series so Im still looking forward too it but the hype for The Last Story is much higher and Im expecting it to be the better game. (As long as TLS doesn’t include random battles)

“Endless Frontier had a great battle system”

No it didn’t. It has one of the most pointless battle systems of all time. Pressing a button while watching the characters perform lengthy moves isn’t fun, especially considering how long all the battles are. Might as well just let the game play it-self.

And honestly I think you’re crazy if you think the cartoony look of Soma Bringer looked better than this. The pre-rendered backgrounds in that game were a mixed bag and when you zoomed in closer they started to look ugly and pixelated. The art design for this game is better, and obviously the models are leaps and bounds better. Tadahiro Usuda’s odd character designs and Wii might be holding it back a little but it looks much better than Soma Bringer overall.

I think I’ll get this game if the environments change often. The land in the trailer was just really..bland.
