PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe Now Less Than A Pittance

imageSony Computer Entertainment America put PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe on UMD and sent it to stores. Today, you can get the game for just $9.99, that’s less than the original price of the PlayStation Network download!

The super low PixelJunk Monsters price begs a question, though. Why hasn’t SCEA released more PSP games in stores?

No, not instruction manuals and vouchers in a box, a la Patapon 2. We’re talking about games on tangible UMD discs. Eye of Judgment Legends and the quirky, but loveable Patchwork Heroes were PlayStation Network “exclusives” in North America, but retail games in Japan. If Sony can profit from PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe at $9.99 they must have room to bring other first party games to stores.

This is awesome—but given that I’m not interested in PJ Monsters, I wish they’d picked Patchwork Heroes or Patapon 2 to “experiment” with bringing to stores like this…

I have this on pre-order on Amazon.com, love that they are giving some UMD love! I don’t buy Digital Download PSP titles.

@honorless: Hopefully this one sells well enough and Sony puts the others on UMD as well!
