Ignition Eying Fate/Extra

By Spencer . June 24, 2010 . 6:41pm

saber Sakura Note struck out, but Fate/Extra has a chance to come out overseas. Ignition is looking at the PSP game.

Imageepoch, the studio behind Luminous Arc and Arc Rise Fantasia, created a brand new game based on the Fate/Stay series, which seems like it drew some inspiration from Atlus’ Persona series.

When I met with Shane Bettenhausen, New Business Development Director, he said he was evaluating Fate/Extra. Ignition, according to Bettenhausen, evaluates a lot of games, so this is far from a confirmation. However, there is a chance Fate/Extra could grace our shores. And if Capcom can release Fate/unlimited Codes here, it’s certainly possible.

I don’t know if I should be happy or worried. Ignition will botch this one BAD if they get their hands on it.

    • if its in english, and understandeable, COME HERE BABY!, i dont even care if the english voices suck, i just wanna play this weheee

      • Kris

Well… This is going to sound harsh, but you’re in English and understandable, but I wouldn’t want to play a game with your spelling and grammar. :p
I’m just hoping that MAYBE this could be the game that Ignition proves themselves with… Ah, who am I kidding, this would be butchered like Arc Rise Fantasia.

        • Heh, yeah i know my grammar sucks, is hard when you aren’t english native speaker xD, but well, practice makes difference, i actually like when ppl point out my errors, this way i can avoid making them again later.

Hopefully they dont botch the script. If they choose to keep it faithful to the original Japanese script, and either leave in the japanese voices or bring back the english cast from the anime than it may not be so bad.

  • BrotherCavil

    Goddamit, NO! Not them! NO!!!

Ignition to rape another fun and interesting game. Details at 10.

  • Kris

That’s exactly how I feel. I’m happy that it might come over, but I don’t want ignition to ruin it like they’ve done with their previous games…
Edit: this was meant to be a response to zhemos

  • *crosses fingers*!

Spencer, did you mention the topic of Entalize localizations during your meeting with Shane Bettenhausen? Seeing how he seems to care about the fanbase I find it strange that such a big problem hasn’t been addressed or at least acknowledged by Ignition itself.

That said, I agree with zhemos’s perplexity.

    • Of course I did.

      • Artavasdus

Would you write another article about that matter or is it something that you don’t want tocan’t discuss? I’m interested to know more about what they think, since their localizations (rather, Entalize’s) are hurting their reputation really bad.

Nowadays one can’t find Ignition mentioned on any videogame boardsiteblog without a good dose of hate and disgust for their localization jobs, and I imagine that continuing along this path isn’t a great idea if they want to maintain the niche market they are apparently trying to cultivate.

        • Yeah, I’m planning to address this in a separate post.

  • doubleO7

That “Sakura Note struck out” link doesn’t really lead anywhere except a blank gallery page. Was it supposed to link to a picture or another article?

Please…..no. Has there been a fan translation for a PSP game? If so…gimme that. Not Ignition please not Ignition.

Why didn’t you bring up their terrible job on ARF?

    • If there is a psp translation, and if it at least completed at 50% (and no, monster hunter isnt included) i could accept your statement, i see it like this… is ignition, or never ever playing it (or play it, understanding almost nothing), of course i choose to play it

  • Vino (Tim N)

At the moment, I’m glad they’re just eying it. Hopefully its not just them too. I love Ignition for bringing us these awesome games, they care to a certain degree for our crowd of gamers. But I wish they would work on maybe in-house translating. And not use Entalize.

  • Well, if it’s Ignition or no one, I won’t complain. I really do want to play the game. But I’d be glad if some other publisher would give some love to the game and localise it.

  • epy

As long as they leave the japanese voices in and the english is… understandable I will buy this day one. Some people may say all they want about me always wanting japanese voices but you’ve seen how Ignition dubs turn out in Arc Rise Fantasia.

  • OMG I’m so happy, but lets hope the the text gonna be english not engrish.

  • CrimsonFlamesX

*Lar’c voice* No please! I’m tired of you guys. No offense to the hard workers though…

  • raymk

I do want the game but like everyone else said just don’t let it be through ignition please don’t. BUt if their the only one’s willing than i guess i have no choice

  • SeventhEvening

oh ignition…that’s too much text. You can’t handle it. I’d love to play this game…but the translation…

  • I won’t let them.

    • Kris

This one of the many reasons why we love you Nick.

    • Haha xD oh this is interesting, i would definitely prefer NISA over ignition

  • ShinNoKami

I’m happy as long as it gets ported! But… please keep the Japanese voices… I can’t go without my Tanaka Atsuko fix.

  • masuto

No! Don’t give it to Ignition! Give it to…Aksys or something!

  • eliel

    sounds good to me

  • IGNITION?! These are the same bastards who f***ed up Lux-Pain?!

I mean, the dubbing was alright, but the text translation was LAZILY TRANSLATED.

If these guys screw up this time, ruining a piece of Type-Moon greatness, I swear to GOD I’ll bash them.
