Blue Roses Battle Video Shows Tactical QTEs

Flight Plan may be gone, but some of their staff are already working on another game. Blue Roses: The Fairy and the Blue Eyed Warriors will be the first game from Apollosoft, a studio formed by ex-Flight Plan staff, and published by Nippon Ichi.

This PSP game is a strategy RPG with turn based battles. Before you encounter an enemy you can pick two nearby allies to join the fight. The screen switches to your usual good guys on the right and bad guys on the left interface where you pick commands like fight or skill. Skills can trigger quick time events where you can dish out extra damage by pushing the right buttons.

Apollosoft designed Blue Roses so the enemies have the same advantages. In addition to bringing allies into fights, enemies can also extend their attacks and make players hit a bunch of QTEs to defend.

Blue Roses comes out on September 16 in Japan. Plans for a release in North American release have not been announced.

    nice animations

  • Code

This seems perhaps a bit redundant, it’s like playing an RPG battle system on top of a strategy game, I like these both separate but together it seems a bit thick. It does have very pretty sprites though, and nice bouncy little idle animations >w<~!

    Really doesn’t look that good.

Also AI quick time events is a stupid idea. It’s flawed because the AI will do nothing more than fail the quick time events randomly, rather than a real person who may never once fail a quick time event. Then again they could always make the AI never fail a quick time event, but that means it’s just as flawed and they shouldn’t even include the quick time events.

Graphically it looks good, except for the character and enemy models. Music is just there.

I believe the “enemy” quicktime event was for you to block/guard against it’s attack — not for the enemy itself, lol >w<'

  • YES! i love the fact the artsis of summon night series works here as well, i just love, love his style (because is close to mine xD), the game looks great, and knowing some of the games part of the staff worked on, im sure the story and game will be great quallity.I hope it comes, if not im definitely gonna get it someday, i hope things goes well for this company! dont die summon night style!

The gameplay doesnt looks that bad, still, i would like to see some hardcore 3 vs 3 battles, i know there is where the good part is >8D

Kind of reminds me how Yggdra Union had the two battle views. It was complex, but once I got accustomed, I had a great time. I would like to check this one out if it gets localized.

    Will import.

  • Guest

    it moves a little slow.

  • Trotmeister
