What Is Motorstorm 3D Rift?

Recommended Videos

Amongst several other racing games, Motorstorm: Apocalypse is in development for the PlayStation 3, and as you’d expect of a recent Sony title, the game includes stereoscopic 3D visual output support.

But if the ESRB are to be believed, there’s another Motorstorm game, titled Motorstorm: 3D Rift, in development as well. Judging by the title and ESRB description, it sounds like it could be an updated port of Motorstorm: Pacific Rift with added 3D support, especially considering a demo version of Pacific Rift that supports 3D already exists.

Here’s the ESRB’s take on the game:

This is an extreme off-road racing game in which players choose various vehicles (monster trucks, ATVs and motorcycles) to compete across harsh landscapes and rocky terrain against other racers. Players can collide and crash into other players, sometimes causing vehicles to explode into pieces. When motorcycle riders are knocked off their bikes, they can sometimes be run over by passing vehicles. During some races, riders can taunt each other using various hand gestures, including raising a middle finger in the air.

And here’s their awfully similar description for the original Pacific Rift:

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift is an extreme off-road racing game in which players choose various vehicles (monster trucks, ATVs and motorcycles) to compete across harsh landscapes and rocky terrain against other racers. Players can collide and crash into other players, sometimes causing vehicles to explode into pieces. During the gameplay, riders can taunt each other using various hand gestures (e.g., raising a middle finger or vigorous strokes of the air with a hand). Some female characters wear leather skin suits with large bustlines and cleavage, while others shake their posterior during certain menu selection screens. Some song lyrics also contain profanity (e.g., “b*tch,” “damn,” and “sh*t”) as well as references to violent acts, including suicide.

Motorstorm: 3D Rift is rated “T” with Language and Mild Violence cited as descriptors.
