Create Your Dream Mega Man And Nightmarish Block Puzzles In Mega Man Universe

Mega Man Universe has a character customization system where you can make your own Mega Man by picking parts. Parts change the way Mega Man looks, his abilities and stats. Five parameters are shown in the screenshot above: life energy, weapon energy, shot, move, and jump. It appears Mega Man can equip different weapons too like Wood Man’s leaf shield and Quick Man’s boomerang.

Mega Man Universe also has a stage editor, which looks similar to the editor in Mega Man Powered Up. By placing blocks, power-ups, enemies, and vanishing blocks you can make your own levels and then share them online. Capcom promises Mega Man Universe more stage parts than the usual Mega Man tiles.

    It’d be good if there was a ‘fourth mega man’ – ‘Original, flat 2D megaman’. I reckon it’d look a lot better. And would then become an insta-buy.

    I thought this reminded me of Powered Up! I think I might prefer the two-heads-tall Mega Man design style from that game, though…

    Personally, I like the art style a lot more now that I see some of it in 2D. Roll looks like she dropped by on the way to Gitaroo Man.

    Mega Man 1-4 represent concepts I thoroughly enjoy: superb stage design with the main character in mind, high base dificulty level and a “using everything in the game is allowed” approach.
    This leads to challenging games (even when using every E-Tank, every item in the games) that are fun to replay.

    These concepts don’t mix well with modern elements, such as the character customizer mentioned above.
    I’m aware I’m speculating here, and I will try to enjoy MM Universe it for what it is, but this game seems to turn into something were the fun comes from fooling around with the mechanics, not the stages design.
