Project Dark Confirmed For International Release On PS3 And Xbox 360

By Spencer . September 16, 2010 . 9:43am

imageThe next game by the Demon’s Souls team is going multiplatform in the West. From Software will publish Project Dark on their own as a PlayStation 3 title in Japan. Namco Bandai has the publishing rights for North America and Europe where Project Dark will be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Project Dark (temporary title), much like Demon’s Souls, is described as a tense dungeon crawler with a dark fantasy atmosphere. While no specifics were given, Project Dark will have a new network system that allows players to interact with others and share content.

Namco Bandai says a more detailed announcement about Project Dark is coming in early 2011.

Well, at least it’s not Dragon Ball.

    • Guest

Whycome it can’t be Saint Seiya?

  • Tsunayoshi Sawada

Well the PS3 is the lead platform…

Interesting, hopefully this RPG at least is party based, party based rpgs seem to be dying these days in the West

    •!/Ojsinnerz Firo_Prochainezo

Do you want to destroy the upcoming game or something?

    • ECM

Party-based?? It doesn’t need to be any more party-based than DS, thank you very much.

    • FireCouch

No thanks. party system + Demon’s souls = bad.

    • Hraesvelgr

…I don’t think there are too many Western RPGs that aren’t party-based.

  • landlock

Hmmm…. Namco Bandai got straight in there this time.

  • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Cool. I hope it’s even darker and creepier than Demon’s Souls.

  • urbanscholar

So this would one of those times when you say great justice has been achieved no?

  • Exand

I hope they have a full online multi-player instead of the odd-ball soul system in Demon’s Souls. I didn’t mind the system, but it would have been fun being able to constantly play with a friend, or two without the restrictions.

  • NickyD

Dark Souls was another working title, I believe. It uses a different online system, but it seems more robust overall. I approve!

  • MrRobbyM

I would love to see a game like Demon’s Souls in a somewhat different light. I just hope the game has the same amount of challenge and I can “summon” other players.

  • Jaxx-Leviathan

Actually the best news in this, besides EU being mentioned, is that Project Dark is a working title. I almost skipped on reading anything on this game because of the title, until I noticed it was linked with Demon’s Souls. I hope for a title that won’t make me crinch in shame when I think about it.

  • speedstersonic

ARGH! WHY BAMCO?! WHY NOT ATLUS!? After they took the jump to try bringing Demon’s Souls over, they should get the right to publish this here! I HATE BAMCO!

  • Schwer_Muta

Good to see Namco has the time to be localizing other people’s games instead of their own

  • EvilAkito

Well, if this game is anywhere near as good as Demon’s Souls, then count me in.

  • JustaGenericUser

Oh man. I liked Atlus’ localization, they at least attempt to market a newly released game and give cool bonuses with it. Namco won’t do jack with it. If the game does worse than Demon’s Souls despite similar gameplay, I know who to blame.
