Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories Breaks Away From B-Rated Graphics

By Spencer . September 17, 2010 . 8:26am

Bad voice acting, low resolution textures, and palette switches to blonde hair were Disaster Report hallmarks in the States. Beginning with Disaster Report 3, Irem has been upping production values for the series to the point that Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories hardly looks like a Disaster Report game.

Irem is also playing with all sorts of PlayStation 3 tech. Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories supports PlayStation Move (although Irem didn’t say how) and 3DTVs. The game is slated for release this winter. Currently, the title has not been announced for North America.

  • Wow. This teaser was EPIC! I cant wait for a US release

      Disaster Report 3 for PSP missed a U.S. release so I’m scared…

I don’t know if Agetec still exists… and if they do they didn’t publish 3. Who else could publish it? Xseed? Atlus? Certainly not NISA, they only do Moe stuff. I hope *somebody* picks up despite the poor sales of the first 2 over here.

Agetec still exists, they handled the PS3 version of Way of the Samurai 3. However, it had been years since they had released another game, so I’m surprised that they are around still.

      • Aside from Way of the Samurai 3, Agetec has been publishing mostly smaller, digital releases like Silver Star Chess and the Crimson Room Reverse for PSP.

  • I wasn’t aware there was more than one.

I like the the trailer, and am impressed with what Irem is able to do despite being such a minor dev; can’t wait to play it. That said, this is a PS3 game, so I can’t quite call those “A-rated graphics”. Not that it really matters for me. Still an instant buy if it makes it over here.

Oh man such sweet music. Seems to have carried over from Steambot Chronicles.

I’m sure I could play this in Japanese if it never makes it to the US. Though of course I’d prefer a English version.

I still find it funny how North American Playstation Home’s IREM space inadvertently gave out Disaster Report 3 T-shirts (despite the name still being “Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3” on the shirt). It’s like whoever ported the space over sort of didn’t care after translating 90% of the area.

But the psp one didn’t even get translated :(
