Watch The Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3DS Trailer

This is the Naked Sample demo Konami showed off for Metal Gear on 3DS at E3 a few months ago. Next year, Nintendo 3DS owners will get to play the full game when Konami releases Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater on the Nintendo 3DS.

There’s been no word on enhancements aside from 3D yet, but we’re sure Kojima Productions will throw a few in to take advantage of the new format. The E3 demo had leaves popping out of the background and a soldier reaching out of the screen at the player.

Personally, I hope the 3DS version will at least feature the improvements and additions that were included in the Subsistance version of the game. That camera angle really does seem a whole lot better than that of the original game.

Anyway, as someone who didn’t get the chance to play the original on PS2, I am really looking forward to this. While MGS 2 divided the fanbase, MGS3 seems to be widely regarded as a good title in the series. Plus, as a fan of modern history, I like the retro 60’s look of the game.

    • Subsistence’s improvements seem likely, but they’d have to figure out how to make the camera work without a second analog. I’d also love to have the over-the-shoulder firing mechanics and crouch walking from MGS4/Peace Walker too.

That’s what I’m worried about as well, the lack of a 2nd analog stick. I loved MGS3 to death (and 4 too) but couldn’t stand PeaceWalker.. This video looks good though, the Snake Eater theme song is too epic and sad, brings back a lot of memories every time I hear it. As much as I liked the game, I’m not sure if I want to play it on portable again, even though w/ 3D enhancement. I’ll probably get it anyway being a MGS fan, plus Eva in 3D :)

Have you ever played a FPS on the the DS?
Metroid Prime Hunters,CoD4 & CoD4:Mobilized used the Touch Screen for aiming/item selection, the D-Pad/face buttons for moving/strafing and the L button for shooting.

IMO the tough screen is about as accurate as a using a PC mouse.

I haven’t, only played PW on PSP and it felt quite cumbersome. So one would be using the stylus to shoot in this MGS3 remake, how do you move the camera? MGS3 wasn’t a FPS though… I know it was a pain to play Mario 64 on the DS, almost unplayable. I just thought if a game was originally meant to play w/ 2 analog sticks and you take away one of them, it’s not going to work as well.

I cannot wait for this good piece of hardware.

  • Kojima-san doesn’t have to make Metal Gear anymore.

      Totally,absolutely agree!

  • Those birds are kinda cute…

  • FireCouch

Why are they remaking the exact same game for the 3DS? It isn’t even what Twin Snakes was to Metal Gear Solid. This just looks like a port. I guess it’s easy money.

    • It’s more likely that it’s because Snake Eater is the first game, chronologically.

    • because this is the best metal gear of all, i even had to heal mosquito’s bites,so cool

Even in the 3ds,Big boss still look otokomae! and The boss couldn’t look more manlier.

And Indeed, Big Boss is the most handsome man after Professor Layton.

true, he’s/she’s something more then just a pride,a word can’t be described by a mere human .. and layton ftw!

MGS3 should be cutscenes only. Even though I hate the gameplay, I played through the game solely based on how great the story was.

This reminds me of the trailer for “Real Life”.
“Hello, I’m Hideo Kojima. I’ve just produced a video game so exciting, that the following trailer will be presented in THREE DEEEE. Oh? What’s that? World champion paddleballer and snake handler Randy Brown just happened to be here! Whoaaaaa!”
