This Week In Sales: Lots And Lots Of New Releases

By Ishaan . October 6, 2010 . 4:33pm

Something that’s rather evident from sales charts over the last few weeks is that SEGA are doing rather well for themselves on the PSP by making smart use of their brands. Here are the figures their last few major PSP games (excluding Valkyria Chronicles 2) debuted at:

Phantasy Star Portable 2 — 286,896

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd — 241,467

Black Panther: New Yakuza Chapter — 174,213

K-On! After School Live — 170,848

In other news, Okamiden on the Nintendo DS did reasonably well, coming in at 84,472 units. Not far behind it was The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki by Falcom at 84,360. Dead Rising 2 followed on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at the #5 and #6 positions respectively.

Glad K-On! did pretty well. I’m looking forward to the eventual sequel with the season 2 music.

    • This. I’m actually holding off on buying this version because I’m worried Sega will do what they did with Project Diva 2nd and include the best songs from the first game too.

  • joesz

the legend of heroes:zero no kiseki is a wonderful game!

  • Did two unrelated games with stars in the middle of their title really just come out on the same system at the same time? My brain first assumed they two versions of the same game (a la pokemon), but they have different publishers. Funny.

    • All we’re missing is Super Mario ☆ Galaxy 2!

  • i smell a new legend of heroes localization :3

Wow Okamiden did it better than expected, unfortunately I don’t think that we are going to see it again on the top 10, but maybe will rank between the 11-15 position.

Okamiden outsold the first weeks of Okami PS2 and Okami Wii. If the shipments were fine or up to Capcom’s expectations, it could be a success. I hope it is and we’ll see more in the coming years.

I’m crossing my fingers that next week it’s still in the top 10. If it can reach 100k this month, I’d say it should be considered a success.

  • Heeeelll yeah Zero no Kiseki! Falcom accidentally sent me a copy of that last week instead of Xanadu Next, but no complaints. This game is FANTASTIC

  • Peytral

    I can’t believe K-On! beat out Zero no Kiseki. ;_;

  • Poor Jake…
After enjoying the Project Diva 2 game I might actually try out the K-On game when they release the sequel.
