What’s The Difference Between Samurai Warriors 3Z And Xtreme Legends?

By Ishaan . November 5, 2010 . 11:29am

Something that’s been rather confusing to people ever since the two games were announced is just what the difference between Samurai Warriors 3Z (PS3) and Samurai Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends (Wii) is.

3Z is a high-definition enhanced PS3 port of the original Samurai Warriors 3 on the Wii. But a closer inspection of this past week’s Famitsu magazine coverage, and the coverage of other Japanese press of the two titles reveals that Xtreme Legends on the Wii is the same game. The major difference is that the PS3 version runs consistently at 60 frames-per-second.

  • Hmm interesting feels like getting the PS3 version is going to be something I want to get at least.

    • Only if you haven’t bought the first one already! The Wii version will still have the exclusive content that one level made for Nintendo. Either way I’ed stick with Sengoku Basara 3 even without online it’s a funnier game.

I stick to Fist of the North Star, Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll and possibly Warriors of Troy

Well, I’m a fan of a many types of games, from the greatest of treasures to the oddest of mediocrity that I for some reason or another love to no end (Ephemeral fantasia is an exemple. Horrible loading, simplistic if not overtly easy gameplay, rather annoyingly lenghty exploration packed in a groundhog day a-la-majora’s mask… But somehow, it just captured my heart)

I for one am glad to be a PS3 owner and that the PS3 is getting Samurai Warriors 3… Though I do feel sorry for the people who got it for the Wii (unless it’s their console of choice to begin with. And buying a PS3 only so to get the enhanced version would be a pricy endeavor…)

  • Early screenshots on famitsu.com also let it look like the PS3 version will use more zoomed out camera angles (PS3/X360 Dynasty Warriors-ish).

I believe they could make the engine put out 60 fps also on Wii if they really gave it a serious reworking (instead of the capped 30 the engine is currently limited to), but Omega Force seems to have their hands really full right now, and it’s “just” an add-on on that system.

  • Well I guess I will be on the look out if it comes out over here. I like it when games embrace nice high presentation values.

    • As opposed to high gameplay values, apparently.

      • Yeah, well Ive realized that I’m one of the few here, who prefer presentation values (graphics and sound and story) over gameplay. I like the interaction and storytelling experience and ride more than the “playing.”

        • Apparently, you like neither, seeing how you enjoy mediocre naruto games.

          • Presentation can never stand in the way of my love for Naruto, Ive got to experience it all. It is not a mediocre experience.

        • I sense another name/pic change coming.

So, instead of playing a crappy game on a Wii, you get to play one at a CONSISTENT 60 FPS!?!?

Man. I just love mashing one button, and see hundreds of mooks die the exact same way – at 60 fps. Red Dead Redemption, Metal Gear Solid 4, nor Bioshock – they can never hope to top a game that hasn’t evolved the tiniest bit in the last two decades. At 60 frames per second at that! That’s like a kick to the groin *after* the sucker punch.

Any words if the PS3 version will make it to US/Canada?

Or do I have to import the asia version…

  • Is it weird that I like these games only because of the girls?

    • WonderSteve

That’s one thing I like about Samurai Warriors more than Sengoku Basara.

  • well this defenitley a must buy for me i always loved koei games like dynasty warriors for co-op etc… and the story mode aint bad at all :) …
