Shout Kamehameha To Fire One In Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butouden

By Spencer . November 22, 2010 . 10:24am

Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butouden, an upcoming fighting game for the Nintendo DS, has cel-shaded graphics and voice control. These screenshots are from a teaser site, which confirms the game is coming out on February 3, 2011.

News about voice control comes from Jump. The magazine explains players can shout special attacks like "kamehameha" and use simple controls to pummel Cell. In addition to fighting the computer, Dragon Ball Kai: Ultimate Butouden has a local wireless two player mode for one-on-one fights.

Now DBZ fans have a more legitimate reason to yell out “KAMEHAMEHA!!!” in public, thank you so much Namdai for making people look like idiots one video game at a time.

As if I don’t hear enough of that at anime cons, now there is the possibility of hearing it from a little kid playing his DS… fun. That is if this game makes its way here, but who am I kidding? Of course it will, it’s not Tales of or .Hack//Link so of course Namdai will localize it.

      Namco hates us :(

  • malek86

With the spotty voice recognition of the DS, I wouldn’t be surprised if I shouted “Kamehameha!” and it registered as a Makankosappo.

    • MizuMikomi

      I wouldn’t doubt it either.
But at least its not as bad as that one Bomberman game, where you could yell “BOMB!” in the microphone and it would set a bomb down, awkward situations commence!

Thank goodness you could still use the A button to place them instead… lol

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

Ummm…which character can do a Kamehameha and a Mekankosappo? Also, I bet there’s only one voiced attack per character so there won’t be any confusion by the system

      • malek86

None, actually, and the Makankosappo is never mentioned again after that one fight anyway.

But it would be pretty cool.

        • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

Precisely my point. I always thought it was a cool attack, though, and wanted to see it again

          • Aoshi00

Yea, Piccolo’s move on Raditz was one of the coolest moves ever.. miss the days of super moves instead of just plain energy blast, though Vegeta still makes up arbitrarily awesome names like Big Bang Attack or Final Flash being a prince that he is, and the result on No. 19 and Cell were nothing but extraordinary :)

Anyway, this game looks cool and so is the voice feature, but I never yell out Objection/Igi Ari!! on Phoenix Wright DS though..

          • Joanna

I only yelled Objection a few times, just to try it out. My mic seems to need you to really yell or it won’t register….which is really tiring. I’m glad no games use the mic extensively.

          • Aoshi00

Yea, same here, yelled out Objection! a couple of times for fun, but the system needs you to really yell or it can’t hear you, not to mention not doable on the bus :)

  • ZOMG, the next Naruto game better have voice control too! I already saw Rasengan and Shadow Clone Jutsu too many times a day as it is, and now I would have even more reason too (oh and even Shinra Tensei and Fang over Fang!)

lol, voice control in this will be fun too, I might just pick it up for kicks!

Code Geass DS RPG had voice control too

  • Guest

damn looks cool but why not Wi-Fi too

  • [The Hunter] Doomrider

Riding the bus will never be the same again…”All right, let’s find a sea-“”KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!””On second thought, maybe I’ll take the subway, yeah.”

  • jakxzero

Finally , In every portable system must be a “decent” dragon ball fighting game

  • kupomogli

I hope the game isn’t built to the scale such as we see on the picture. I hope when a character moves further back the screen pans further out. Either that or we once again get another DS game that the camera is so close to the action.

    Designs look ridiculous -_-

I hope they consider working on an RPG Dragon Ball for the PSP sometime soon.
