Since Taito games have rights split among different publishers few have been released on Virtual Console in North America. But, maybe, just maybe, we’ll get Lufia & The Fortress of Doom and Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals.
Out of the blue, Taito trademarked a bunch of Super Nintendo titles. Darius Twin, Lufia & The Fortress of Doom, and Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals we’re filed in the USPTO. Darius Twin is available as a Virtual Console download in Japan, but both Lufia (Estpolis Denki) titles aren’t.
Taito trademarked these game names for a reason, probably because they’re going to be re-released somewhere. Virtual Console seems like a good bet since it wouldn’t require any extra work on Taito’s part, plus the Wii could use a few more RPG epics, even classic ones, in North America.
