Dead or Alive: Dimensions Goes 3D In March

By Ishaan . January 7, 2011 . 9:11pm

Dead or Alive: Dimensions may not be a Nintendo 3DS launch game, but Team Ninja will have it ready within a month of launch. Dimensions is releasing in Japan on March 24th for 6,090 yen.

In the mean time, Tecmo Koei have released a new trailer to attempt to demonstrate the game’s 3D effects. Additionally, it also reveals that the game appears to be able to throw you into multiplayer fights with the people you pass, using the 3DS’ CrossPass function, similar to Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition.

  • Was that a Moogle at the end?!?!

    Excessive Jiggling is…less excessive?

The game looks Gorgeous! The 3d effects are nice and, if they’re only in the cutscenes like the impression I got, then that’s fine with me. In a fighting Game like this, I’d prefer not having 3d effects blowing out at me every 5 seconds (Of course, I say this with a biased view towards 3d I have yet to partake in ;P

I’m not the best at Fighters, I’ll admit, but when done right, they’re fun to me. DoA was a good game and the past and I’m sure it’ll be great even now.

Also, I wonder if Monty ever got a thank you package?

Wasn’t DOA supposed to be a launch title for the 3DS in North America? If that is still the case can we assume the NA and EU 3DS release is somewhere around March 24-31?

    • We spoke to Tecmo Koei about this recently, actually. They’re not saying if it’s a launch title or not.

      • vadde939

Ah well there goes my theory :P

No way to really prove it Ishaan but yesterday I went to gamestop and had them print out a list for the launch titles for the 3DS and the list did have Dead or Alive Dimensions on it but since I forgot to take the list out of the store I can’t really say when its coming out

        • I don’t doubt it. I think DOA should be out close to or at launch, but we’ll just have to wait for TK to confirm that. Thanks for the heads up! :)

  • PrinceHeir

did i just saw Ayane’s portrait from Sigma 2?

looks cool and all hopefully Dead or Alive 5 for console will feature basically everyone in the DOA franchise inlcuding Ryu.

All my favorite characters already confirmed and its a US launch title. Im excited!
Lack of online (so far) is kinda lame though. Hopefully they announce its full features on the 19th.

    • kylehyde

Wait a minute, from minute 3:25 to 3:37 is not implying that is going to feature online mode or something like that, I mean why they displayed a world map where the characters pop up. Well at least is how I interprete this.

Somebody who know japanese tell me what is saying between those times.

      • Guest

Yea I noticed that too but that came on right after they showed off the arcade-type feature it has like in SSFIV where a random person can choose to fight you through StreetPass. I figured Ishaan would have said something about on the article if it did have it though.

        • fallen

The Japanese during the scene in question does say “Internet Play”.

I replied but i swore so it won’t get posted. =P Thanks I just saw it over at andriasang.

I’ve been waiting forever for Dead or Alive 5. Unfortunately, looks like I’ll have to keep waiting, but in the mean time, this game looks awesome. I am so excited to finally get my hands on another DoA title. As a launch title, you can’t get more awesome. Reminds me of how Capcom went strong by making Darkstalkers a launch title for the PSP.

Boobs, lips, legs ‘n ass for all!

Damn you, libido, damn you to h-BOOOOOOOOBS!!!

But seriously, it looks like a great fighter. Now if only Hudson and Overworks would release a Bloody Roar and a Skies of Arcadia port/sequel/remake for the 3DS, the system would be absolutely perfect (library-wise, I mean)!

    • Testsubject909

Bloody Roar… with DOA style bouncing?

  • Huh. Doesn’t look like there’s any new stages, and hilariously the new character seems to be Dark Energy Heihachi Mishima. Itagaki must be having a stroke, wherever he is.

    • Sakurazaki

Well, he doesn’t work with them anymore, so I can see why.

    • That guy is actually the boss from the original game. He’s not a new character at all.

      • Really? I got on board the series at 2, and never did play the original.
        Makes sense, though.

  • ChaosPaladinFayt

why is there so much bouncing in a 3DS game? o. o” Is the 3DS directed to kids? kuz if it is, then…..yea….

    • onilink888

Er… Are you not familiar with how video games work?

The 3DS is directed at everyone, and its games are directed at different age groups (shown by the game’s rating) and so on, much like any other console/handheld or games…

      • ChaosPaladinFayt

        My first question was rhetorical…..

    • The 3DS, like the DS and Wii before it, is being marketed as being for everyone; kids, teens, adults, “expanded audience” and “core audience.” That’s why there’s a huge range of games lined up for the system.

Edit: (Note to self: I should do some typing practice to increase my speed…)

  • Testsubject909

Remember everyone! This is not for kids under 6 years of age, it’s bad for their eyes.

  • MarkMario

    Bouncing in 3D? :D

    • Well, first their team leader quit. Then, he sued the company they work for. After that, they got contracted by Japan’s biggest game publisher to work on a huge game. I’d say that about sums it up. :P

      • Ugh it’s been about 4 years tho. I hope this means 5 is coming soon.

  • Looks pretty decent. The fighting looks typical DoA style (somewhat cheap but still fun) and the cinematics are impressive. Also the multiple modes – including the CrossPass – also help flesh it out (pun…intended?).

Still wish the main single player mode wasn’t a tutorial disguised as a story though :(
