Onechanbara Special’s Loneliest Co-op Play Mode, Introducing A "Virtual Friend"

By Spencer . January 7, 2011 . 1:20am

Onechanbara Special is a PSP version of the Onechanbara with five playable characters, over 300 weapons to find, and plenty of zombies to coat your sword with tainted blood.

Like many PSP games, ad-hoc cooperative play was implemented into the game. But, what if you don’t have a friend to play with? Tamsoft has you covered. Onechanbara Special has a "virtual friend" feature, which substitutes a real life friend with a computer controlled ally. You can use cooperative play or the virtual friend mode in any of the game’s missions.

D3 Publisher has Onechanbara Special slated for March 24 in Japan. No word of a North American release at this time, but D3 localized Onechanbara games in the past.

Considering one of the reasons to be playing Onichanbara.

I’d imagine many will make use of the virtual friend, so to not be caught playing with their pants down.

  • Well, It’s a Step forward. I know In a lot of older adhoc coop games (CoughFFTacticscoughKHBBSCough) If you didn’t have someone to play it with, you were SoL, no questions asked.

By the time developers realize the PSP is capable of online, PSP2 will already be out. And as long as Ad Hoc Party exists, the developers will never bother paying a dime to include online. It’s sad when Phantasy Star Online games are….Ad Hoc only. Same with Monster Hunter lol.
