This Week In Sales: Birth by Sleep Finally Mixes It Up

The week of January 17th – 23rd saw the release of Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix, finally ending the Birth by Sleep chapter of the series. (Then again…) Birth by Sleep Final Mix moved 77,000 copies, taking the place of Another Century’s Episode Portable at #1, above Monster Hunter Portable 3rd at #2.

Another Century’s Episode, in the mean time, saw itself bumped down all the way to #11 in the span of a single week. Two new Namco Bandai releases in the form of Kaiju Busters Powered and Venus & Braves, along with consistent top-ten regulars like Donkey Kong Country Returns and Pokémon Black/White dominated the first half of the week’s sales chart.

Also in the top-ten was Inazuma Eleven 3: Challenge the World – The Ogre, which shot up all the way from #28 to #7. A new shipment, perhaps? Also making its return from beyond the top-20 was Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Everyone’s Party Sandaime.

The top-20 chart for the week is as follows:

Okay, how about if I try a different approach?

With so many million already sold, its shocking to see that there are still people who do not posses PKMN Black & White, as well as Monster Hunter.

… I’m not sure if this does much, but consider the fact that Japan has a population of 127 million people.

I can’t exactly figure out which age groups I should stop at when I think of prospective buyers for the games, though.

      I don’t T_T

    • Aara_Malik_Davoodi

There are still people buying Wiis every day. I’m sure there’s still people buying PS2s. No matter how many people have bought something, there will always people without it

  • Phoenix_Apollo

Nice to see Ni no Kuni hanging in there!

    • MakoSoldier7

agreed, though that game looks beautiful, it just screams cult hit, so it makes me happy to see it getting some recognition

I hope konami localize Magician’s Quest: The Merchant’s Store of Sorcerery, it has been quietly doing well xD, hope ni no kuni reaches the 600k Level 5 wanted T_T

Venus&Brave sure has a weird gameplay,But the game definitely deserves to be in the place of Kaijuu buster.

  • PrinceHeir

i wonder if T3B sales can make up for a sequel, pretty please Square?

another international game we on’t be getting :(

Tsuna will be sad that Little Charo travels in English! sold poorly.

“Momotaro Electric Railway: The Great Gathering of Heroes – Sengoku ・ Meiji” Sounds way too badass. I can only imagine a game that combines Dynasty Warriors with train simulation.

I’m also glad to see Ni no Kuni doing pretty well. Told ya it was too early to write off it’s initial sales :D

Wow, ACE:P fell from grace real fast, while AKB 1/48 is still standing strong. Is this the power of idols?

    • Tom_Phoenix

No, this is the power of a fanbase that doesn’t give a damn. Seriously, outside of possibily Gakuen, I don’t think I have ever seen a less anticipated SRW-related title. The announcement of Z2 didn’t help either.

Probably after ACE:R, people’s expectations have dropped tremendously. Gah!
        *inserts ACE3 into his PS2*

  • Xeahnort

People rant about the prices of some dlcs but S-E don’t see a problem with selling them at full price.
