Nintendo To Publish Just Dance 2 And GoldenEye In Japan

By Ishaan . January 29, 2011 . 4:31pm

Wii sales picked up dramatically during the 2010 holiday season, just like they do every year. They’re usually driven by a piece of flagship Nintendo software like Wii Fit or New Super Mario Bros. Wii. 2010 was the exception to this rule.

In 2010, Wii software sales during the holiday season were given a boost by an Ubisoft game. While Nintendo releases like Donkey Kong Country Returns performed admirably, Just Dance 2 outsold the game in November and December in the U.S., and was a significant driver of Wii software sales in both the U.S. and Europe.

In light of its performance, Nintendo are going to help localize and publish Just Dance 2 for Ubisoft in Japan. Company president, Satoru Iwata, believes the game was the most important Wii holiday release in 2010.

Just Dance 2 won’t be alone either. Nintendo are also publishing Activision’s Wii remake of GoldenEye in their home territory.

    hare hare yukai. called it.

  • Since #Nintendo is the Japanese release publisher of #GoldenEye, I’d love to see them use #HiroseKohmi’s single, “Promise”

Is good to know that nintendo is giving a hand to those 3rd party titles, maybe are not cup of tea, but still I think that is a good move.

    • Now if only they would allow third party’s to publish their own games that NOA won’t touch.

      • Pray tell, how are they preventing third-parties from publishing their games?

        • YoFace

Fans once asked, I think it was Natsume? If they could publish Mother 3 here. But said that they weren’t allowed to. If NoA wanted to do it then they’d do it.

          • Oh, he was talking about third-parties publishing Nintendo’s games. I misunderstood it as somehow preventing third-parties from publishing their own titles.

    Let’s Sweat! XD

  • I’m curious …. maybe I will try Just Dance for once

    • It’s good cheap fun with at least two other people, as long as you keep your expectations low. I was surprised to hear that it got a sequel, but I imagine it improved on whatever made the first one so compelling despite it screaming of low production values.

    • I think DDR provides the more fulfilling experience, just saiyan!
