Voices Now Accompanied By Music In This Devil Survivor Overclocked Teaser

By Ishaan . March 8, 2011 . 1:05pm

Devil Survivor Overclocked’s release isn’t far off. Atlus USA plan to release the game this summer, making it the first role-playing game to release on the Nintendo 3DS in the U.S.

Atlus say that Overclocked contains the highest amount of voiced dialogue of any Atlus game to date. You can read more details about the game’s voice-recording here. While you wait for its release, here’s a new teaser trailer.

Can you identify any of the voice actors?

  • Sounds very cheesy to me, not bad, but not good either, then again this is just a teaser trailer, maybe it will sound better in-game. Though, for the moment I don’t even care as there is no information on an EU release.. :(

    • OneOkami

The voice acting reminds of that in Luminous Arc 1 & 2…which I did not like.

      • Yeah they were at most average quality, but let’s wait, it may sound quite good in the actual game~ xP

      • Joanna

Actually now that you mention it…Yuzu’s VA sounded familiar. I think she may have done one of the voices in Luminous Arc.

I didn’t mind the VAs in Luminous Arc. Some were a little iffy…Mel…but most were alright. I think I’m one of the few that actually loved Nikolai’s voice. xD Likewise, I think most of the VAs are alright in Overclocked and I wouldn’t mind listening to them in English. Just Yuzu, it’s not the VA, but the fact that I had a really different voice for her in my mind when I played Devil Survivor. So it’s just odd to hear her. I didn’t hear Atsuro in the trailer, but him too. He has a radically different voice than I imaged and it sort of creates a weird mental dissonance.

    • PrinceHeir

agree but i guess to much cheese is sometimes a good thing(i think)

i can’t wait for this, damn it somebody needs localize this so that Europeans like Raioh get to play this :P

      • It definitely can be a good thing, though at the moment I’m neutral about it. :P

Thanks man, I appreciate your concern for people like me. xD

    • MisterDandylion

Putting the voice-acting aside, I hope the difficulty wasn’t toned down. And this comes from a gamer that sucks at this kind of games….

      Especially this one T__T

      • I’m sure the difficulty will be the same as the original, not that it was hard to begin with, it was actually quite easy for an Atlus game. :P

  • Do I hear Laura Bailey voicing two characters? : D

    • No, it was MELISSA FAHN <3 <3 <3 <3 <3!!!

  • I think the voices are decent, although the fun of Persona/Devil Survivor dialogue is the natural style banter. The whole ‘LETS CHANGE OUR DESTINY’ thing seems slightly silly out of context.

That said, goddamn, RESET never stopped being an awesome theme song. Instrumental version is still my ringtone.

  • I sold my copy of Devil Survivor DS now. My body is ready for the 3DS version.

  • Jenova2212

    Pretty good.

Oh, and for the record, if anyone feels like giving Spike Spencer a hard time (AGAIN!…as always)….go watch Durarara. Or play BlazBlue. YOU IGNORANT FOOOOLS!!!

    • Zero_Destiny

If it’s any consolation I’ve like Spike Spencer ever since I heard him in EVA way back when. I’m always glad to see him in games. It made Atelier Iris 2 more fun to hear his voice :)

  • thebanditking

Kind of glad I never got to play the original now, the voice acting (imo) will help the presentation and delivery of the story. Not to mention that the DS version is not renowned for its audio quality (so fuzzy…). Which brings me back to a lingering question how is the 3DS audio quality? Is it comparable to the PSP? I have not heard one mention of this yet, everyone always talks about the wizz bang features (like when they review iPod’s, usually not one mention about audio quality, which is why you buy an MP3 player, right?) no one talks about whats actually important.

  • I should know who Yuzu’s VA is but I just can’t remember that one. Naoya’s had better be cool. Aside from that I wish we could hear an English rendition of RESET (properly done of course).

    • Chiupon

You can probably figure this out via google, but she’s the chick who voiced Ed in Cowboy Bebop.

  • Zero_Destiny

I’m kinda of bummed that the RESET theme was only instrumental. I love watching the DS trailer just to hear it.(and I haven’t even played the game yet :P) But I guess if the song was blasting in the background no one could hear the voice work. lol The acting seems pretty solid. I’m getting more excited for this game.

  • If only they put animation on the enemies sprite…

  • Shadow_Raskolnik

I think it’s still too early to be judging the voice acting too harshly since what we have been given so far have just been small clips. All the complaining reminds me of the time before Atlus released Persona 4 when alot of people complained of the voice acting from characters like Chie and then later once the game was released many went on to praise the Voice acting for those characters.

Basically what I’m saying is that we should wait until Atlus releases more substantial videos of the gameplay and voice acting before we start complaining about it.

  • Did I hear some Spike Speigel, Anise Tatlin and Shinji Ikari in there?

  • I’m somewhat disappointed by the absence of /this/ awesome tune: http://dsoc.atlusnet.jp/

Other than that, the voice acting is average – as expected –
and the game looks to be even better than I originally thought. :3

  • What about Persona 4 ?

  • I cant wait to hear frosties voice
