Take A Look At The Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D Box Art

By Ishaan . March 19, 2011 . 11:58am

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is scheduled for release sometime in the third quarter of this year, and Capcom USA have the game’s box art ready to show off.

The Mercenaries 3D is a retail game based on the “Mercenaries” mode in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, where you take on a horde of zombies before the clock runs out. The game has areas from both Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5.

When it ships, The Mercenaries 3D will come with a two-player online cooperative mode. You can read our recent impressions of the game from GDC here.

Leave it to Capcom to try and use the best features of the 3DS. “When it ships, The Mercenaries 3D will come with a two-player online cooperative mode.” Then everything that you can do with Street Fighter 3D. EA, Namco, Koei you guys can learn something from them.

Eh, I dunno. I prefer to see a more mixed blend of RE characters and enemies for the box art. This gives off more of an “RE5 3D” vibe than it does an “RE:TM 3D” one.

Regardless, this is definitely gonna be one of the many additions to my pending 3DS games list. Co-op on mercenaries spells love.

All they needed to do was slap Hunk on the cover and that would’ve been enough for me. :O

Good job that doesn’t look amazing! :D

Christ, first Ubisoft, now Capcom, pretty soon there won’t be any games that don’t have 3D attached to their name

Like we don’t know 3DS games are in “3D” :p Capcom, I’m waiting for Revelations..

This isn’t really anything new. GBA games had “Advance” on the end. Quite a few PSP games have “Portable” at the end. DS games had the whole “D.S. abbreviation” thing.

That certainly doesn’t account for the majority of games though…do you just like to complain?

To be honest I like cheesy stuff like that. I think it’s cool when systems have gimmicks like how everything on the N64 had to have 64 slapped on it. I’m actually sad the gimmicky titles don’t last longer. The DS ditched it too early. :( More DS games should of had found a way to put DS in the title. I think it’s awesome. :)

Did anyone actually play the Mercenaries mode for more than a few minutes, though? I mean, I know I logged in probably a total of an hour on that, just long enough to earn points for stuff in the main game. This doesn’t seem like it’d be worth a full purchase.

I think I got in about an hour in RE5 as well. Pretty disappointed to hear that Capcom is seriously charging $40 for what has always been – at best – mildly entertaining postgame content.

Oh well, one more reason to put off purchasing a 3DS :/

a very flawed and limited mode at full price. this should cost 10 dollar or less and make it available for 3dsware and even like that its still not that fun, maybe if they imitate and improve gears of war horde mode

I had a chance to play this at SXSW Screenburn Arcade. Instead, I played Okamiden and Super Street Fighter 4 3DS. Got three of those celestial brush styluses (which came with cleaning cloths) though.
