Famitsu has posted a look at Final Fantasy Type-0 and some of the abilities the students in Suzaku have. Since all of the playable characters are magic students they can cast spells. Ace, for example, can throw cards and create a magic wall. Literally, a magic wall.
After taking so much damage the barrier shatters.
Ace’s other abilities are: Deck Open, Card, and Fire ST. Queen’s skills are: Mythril Saber, Cross, Thunder MW, and Raise. Nine, the lance wielding character, appears to be the game’s Dragoon-like character. He can use Jump, Holy Lance, Fire ST, and Cure.
Players control a party of three characters in Final Fantasy Type-0, which you can switch on the fly. If a character happens to fall, the game doesn’t end. Another classmate joins and the mission continues. The game will end if all twelve members fall in battle. It’s possible for a friend to help your team out via an ad-hoc connection. However, there is a time limit for multiplayer mode.
One strategy is to target enemy commanders. While these enemies are stronger, other units will retreat if you can take down their leader.
Final Fantasy Type-0 is slated for a summer release in Japan.
