Persona 2: Innocent Sin’s Connection To Shin Megami Tensei If…

By Spencer . April 4, 2011 . 4:06pm

Another quest made just for the PSP version of Persona 2: Innocent Sin takes players to Karukozaka High, the setting for Shin Megami Tensei If…. You can travel there by visiting the Climax Theater, a new element in the PSP release which lets players take on additional quests like "The Persona Robber."

This story begins with a dream where you get a request from an unknown person to investigate the Heart’s Rest. Tatsuya and his friends head to Karukozaka High where they see see students with ambition sapped from their souls. Tamaizu Nirasawa, a senior, is the president of the excavating and computer clubs. Nirasawa is said to have a unique way of thinking.

Haruo Wayland is another key character in the Persona Robber. Also a senior, Wayland is the lead singer in the band Inryoku-Achine and one of Eikichi Mishina acquaintances.

Atlus added extra demons to this quest too. Silhouettes suggest Persephone, a reaper type from Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, is one of them.

  • Atlus, where is the confirmation for the US release ?
This gets much more awesome by each news.

    • Patience is a virtue. Though I will admit, everytime I see one of these articles I imagine it will be them confirming it, then again, dont they make announcements first through their Atlus Faithful emails?

    • Alexisonfire

      After the Japanese release. Guaranteed.

  • Sadly SMT: If never got translated… Will Atlus still put this in if it gets localised?

    • Oh I was wondering what IF was. A shame those years produced untranslated games.

      • Zero_Destiny

It was a super NES and playatation one game.Read about it here:

    • Maybe we’ll get an SMT: If… remake now?

    • I don’t see why not. It’s just an extra quest. Also, the English version of Persona 3 had Innocent Sin Online, which was based on Persona 2: IS characters and that game has never been localized.

      • Well, technically Innocent Sin Online is Devil Busters Online. Atlus changed it to make the 2 personas tie-in more with each other. This change made western players speculate that Ms Toriumi is Maya Amano, when it is actually not correct. Anyways, I see your point.

Wait so your telling me that that wasn’t here? but the evidence is all there. She going out with ur freind, the way she got embarrased when you called her maya at the end of the game etc.

  • Zero_Destiny

Yes reference Strange Journey as much as you can Atlus, I love that game. :) It would so great if Atlus releases more quest over time and ties them to other games. XD On a side-note Shin Megami Tensei if I always wanted to play that one. Too bad I guess. I love the designs in that game and the story sounds so cool. It was also the first game in MegaTen that let you choose your gender. I love that female main. :D

    • I wanna play Soul Hackers. It’s got Nemissa in it!

      • Zero_Destiny

XD Nemissa!!! I’m right there with you. She’s just too hot not to want to play the game.

  • “Connection”? What are you talking about? this quest mode is the equivalent of interactive movies in the narrative. If anything this proves there is NO connection between IF and P2.
