Like other Vanillaware developed games, Grand Knights History has highly detailed, grand-size sprites. Before the battle for Ristya begins you get to create a character.

Grand Knights History lets players choose a gender, class, and their hero’s appearance. Options include different body color, hair color, weapon, and accessory. You can even select your character’s voice by picking a voice type and adjusting the pitch.

After you decide on a cane or a sword, you can battle dragons and other monsters. Marvelous have not detailed the battle system aside from saying its turn based. Grand Knights History is slated for release this summer on PSP.

I wouldn’t expect anything less than gorgeous sprites from Vanillaware. The character creation inclusion, I find, is another lovely touch. I’m really looking forward to this title.

  • RagnaXBL

i’ve always had a soft spot for 2D sprites, this game looks amazing

      Tape! D: TAPE IT.

Sounds fun. Though the character customization sounds like a slightly smaller version of Phantasy Star’s (which is a good thing).

I’m looking forward to more news on the game. (Or maybe I should just check the site.)

one thing i think will never ever get old is sprites they just keep gettin better and better.Especially the guys at Vannilaware they never fail to impress

  • joesz

Odin Sphere that what came into my mind.

  • z_merquise

Wow! Even if it’s in the PSP, it still looked beautiful. I really love the surreal fantasy art style of Vanillaware.

If only this game would be released outside Japan, it’s definitely a Day 1 buy for me just to show my support for Vanillaware.

Never heard of Super Robot Wars MX, A, & Z2?

      • z_merquise

I do, dood. Let me also add Queen’s Blade and Queen’s Gate: Spiral Chaos. Lot’s of games for the PSP that were appealing visually. But I was just amazed that the visuals for the game matches the quality of Vanillaware’s console games like Muramasa, Odin Sphere and Grimgrimoire.

  • d19xx

It must be a crime in Japan not to draw sprites in chibi.

Anyways the character creation sounds awesome. Didn’t care much about Vanillaware’s previous games, I hope this one changes that.

  • Barrit

Nothing else to say but this game just looks so damn amazing. We better get this!

  • Zal_Yagun

  • kupomogli

Hate to beat on a dead horse, but as others have stated, this game looks amazing. Very beautiful. Here’s hoping that the gameplay is just as good.

    I think im gonna cry

  • Aoshi00

I hope this is plain turn based RPG.. I like Muramasa being a straight and fast action game but didn’t like Odin Sphere mixing action w/ RPG.. just couldn’t get into it.. would be nice if more games continue to use 2D sprites like Vanillaware and Arc system..

  • alundra311

Game looks freakin’ sweet. Can’t wait for gameplay details.
