Hunt Phantoms In Majesco’s Supernatural Augmented Reality Game For Nintendo 3DS

Majesco are another publisher supporting the Nintendo 3DS with games like Face Kart: Photo Finish, Pet Zombies in 3D, BloodRayne: The Shroud, and now The Hidden.

The Hidden is something we aren’t seeing too much of yet: an augmented reality game that turns your Nintendo 3DS into “into a portal to the astral plane.” Using the 3DS camera, you’ll have to hunt through real-world environments for paranormal activity. Unfortunately, Majesco haven’t provided any screenshots yet.

Developed by 1st Playable Productions, The Hidden also has a story. As a member of the Ghostly Entity Investigation and Strike Team (G.E.I.S.T.), your job is to track down and destroy evil spirits and phantoms. You’ll have access to different weapons like the Plasmatic Disruptor, Ectoplasm Sensor and Spectral Shield.

Majesco also mention Wi-Fi features, but these aren’t elaborated upon. They did provide a release window for the game though; The Hidden is slated for an October release, in time for Halloween.

  • Hm seems like a similar take of integrating the real world into a game via features that the NGP seemed possibly destined to deliver based on past talks.

That being said, if a retail game built around Augmented Reality really works then I will become a fan of it. Ive just never seen any real application of it beyond simple games and minigame compilations as its future, so this news from Majesco excites me greatly. I hope for more stunning details to be revealed and that it has a moving and excellently designed story. Guess I will be carrying this game and my 3DS around to play as I walk across this here town and campus.
