What’s Sega’s New Hatsune Miku Project?

By Ishaan . April 25, 2011 . 2:33pm

Sega have put up a teaser website pertaining to a new Hatsune Miku “project,” that they say will kick off on April 28th in Japan. It’s unclear as to just what form this project will take, but we’ll probably learn more this week.

For a while now, Sega have been updating Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd on the PSP with new content via downloadable updates. Recently, they also showed off a video of a pricey arcade controller manufactured by Hori for Dreamy Theater 2nd, their PSP-to-PS3 conversion software.

What I’m afraid of is that @playstation SCEA would reject this game, under their vague reasoning. :S

      • Locklear93

I doubt they’d reject it, honestly. There’s nothing about either Project Diva title that throws up any red flags based on things they’ve permitted or rejected in the recent past. That said, I’m not sure I see it as a viable move commercially for Sega. I’m the only person I know who’s really into Vocaloid stuff.

Project Diva 3rd!? Project Diva 2nd Dreamy Theater (Probably won’t be buying though)? I want to know! Maybe a new Project Diva game with different type of game play!?

  • PrinceHeir

i wonder what platform is it? PS3? Wii?

    • HarryHodd

      Double post sry.

    • HarryHodd

I think we can safely rule out the Wii. As for PS3 well a Hori Poject Diva PS3 controller is in production.

  • kroufonz

please make it stand alone ps3 game this time sega

If this is Project Diva 3rd, it better be coming out sometime this summer. I was planning on buying PD2 this summer and if they announce PD3 for fall or winter or something, I’m going to be pissed.

“The Hatsune Miku Funding Bill is passed. She goes online April 28th, 2011. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Miku begins to learn at a geometric rate.”

w/e it is i hope is for psp…

  • malek86

My game detector says “Project Diva 3D”. But that would make our chances of getting it near zero, so I hope not.

  • maxchain

She shall appear from a far eastern land…….

  • MizuMikomi

I am willing to bet is Project Diva 3rd, PSP and 3DS, why do I say both? Because they will earn more money that way, Miku has become a cash cow for figure makers, and Sega alike, and I highly doubt they will shy away from the potential to earn more money.

But I won’t get my hopes up just yet, even if i want it to PD3, I will just wait and see. If it’s a 3DS only title, screw it, I won’t import a Japanese 3DS just to play it; region locking the 3Ds was Nintendo’s worst move this year… what idiots.

  • holyPaladin

I want Miku new games :)

  • superdry

While Project Diva 3rd on PSP would be awesome…I’m thinking SEGA should hold out until the PSP2 (or whatever it’s going to be called) is released before doing it. It would make a fantastic launch title.

Now, if SEGA is announcing Project Diva 3D…I will fangasm. Between Kagura and that, I will have to buy a Japanese 3DS.

Project Diva for iOS? A new PJD arcade? PJD arcade port for the PS3? SEGA has finally created a lifelike android of Hatsune Miku?

  • HarryHodd

I dont really care what system, but it seems PSP has enough going for it, maybe it’s PS3s turn?

I’ve been wishing that Miku Hatsune would get Sonic-budget marketing, since we all don’t want getting overexposed to Sonic again.

It would bomb horribly but I’d like to see a Kinect-based game

Every since that Nendoroid PSP game announcement I can’t get the idea of a Vocaloid petting simulator out of my head. Different developers though (´;ω;`)
