Here’s Why Rorona Is A Child In Atelier Meruru

By Spencer . May 23, 2011 . 9:14pm

If you’ve seen any videos or screenshots from Atelier Meruru: The Alchemist of Arland 3 you probably noticed Rorona, the star in Atelier Rorona, is a child. Why? This has nothing to do with Atelier Totori, but may be a bit of a spoiler so read on only if you don’t care about that kind of thing.

Just so you have some time to think that decision over, we’ll re-introduce two Atelier Totori: The Adventurer of Arland characters who will reappear in Atelier Meruru.

Gino, a young swordsman and a childhood friend of Totori, is a playable character in Atelier Meruru. Now 20 years old, Gino is suave and cool looking character who may be playable once again. Screenshots show him in battle.

Filly returns too. She’s 27 and reports say Filly’s appearance has not changed.

OK, one more spoiler warning…

Using a recipe scribbled on a piece of paper, Meruru mixed the unknown compound and Rorona turned into a child. Meruru decides to take care of little Rorona and the two like each other very much. Plot-wise, this also gives Totori a chance to shine as a mentor without Rorona overseeing both characters as a master alchemist.

. . . and knowing is half the battle.

And silly me thought the reason was “the more lolis the better”.

Like their lolis young, Gust does. And here I was thinking Rorona shrunk because they haven’t filled the game’s loli quota. [Shrug]

    A fortunate accident.

Haha I’m ok with knowing that much~

I wonder though; Does it mean Rorona’s mind is also that of a child? Did she forget her alchemy knowledge? Lost memories.etc?

It feels like you posted this article just to answer my question. Thanks!

  • raymk

I still think they just didn’t want an older rorona.  Which i’m sure is the real reason lol

  • IceRomancer

Ahhh the old scribbled recipe and unknown compound turning you into a child trick…wait what?

well i enojoyed rorona, hopefully will enjoy totori..
If meruru is better, who cares?
I mean, I’m already living my gaming experience dealing with japanese boobs fixation, so I can take a little of their loli obsession as well.. so far as they don’t exagerate.. :/

      DAN DAN!

I don’t think that the Japanese would mind her to stay like that.

  • Methylene

For some reason… I totally saw that coming. Random Alchemic recipe gone wrong… or horrifically right XD

Now… who wants to bet Astrid is the one who scribbled on that paper?

    • http://www.siliconera.com Melinda

That’s like suggesting water’s wet. No bet.

Of COURSE it’s Astrid’s fault. Even when it isn’t, and there’s evidence to the contary. It’s the ultimate rule of Arland’s universe.

I was holding out on ‘Rorona experiment gone completely wrong’ but well, can’t call them all, although that might not entirely be written off.

I figured it was an alchemy accident of some sort. Looks like Gust just couldn’t stand aging her over 25.

  • http://strictlyapathy.comoj.com/ SoulArbiter

Instant loli-fication of a character; just add GUST.

  • PigeonSweets

Ahaha, nice way to fit some more loli in there. I can understand them not wanting to age Rorona too much though. I am curious however, is she turned back to normal, or do they even TRY to turn her back to normal by the end of the game?
