Will We See Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2 Overseas?

By Spencer . June 8, 2011 . 5:15pm

image Compile Heart is crunching to get Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-2. The PlayStation 3 game is due in Japan on August 18. NIS America just released the first game, Hyperdimension Neptunia, this past February.

Will we see the sequel in North America? I asked Haru Akenaga, President of NIS America, who responded with a vague "No problem." Signs point to yes?

We’ll have more from NIS America’s president soon.

No problem? I like his style.

  • Tarlol

Cool. I didn’t find the first one to be a great game, but I’d be willing to give this sequel a chance.

  • z_merquise

The power of Moé is totally unmatched. Of course, this game would surely appear overseas.

  • NIS Loves Us!!

    • PrinceHeir

agree, more companies should be NIS :P

  • I wish someone would make an LP of HDN. The game was too Idea Factory-ish to play, but the script was hilarious.

    • OneOkami

Can you expand those abbreviations for me?

      • MizuMikomi

        Let’s Play and HyperDimension Neptune/Neptune

    • You mean apart from the 40 or so hours I did live as part of Neptune back in its Japanese release? :P

  • “Mondai nai” – Sagara Sousuke. I feel he got his answer from him, love this unclear answers! xd

  • OneOkami

Given the way the first one sold and their working relationship with Idea Factory in general, it was practically a given.

  • SerendipityX

T_T I can’t find the first one. NISA really does love us, don’t they? and lol at the prez’s response.

  • Weee >8D

  • lol awesome

  • zhemos

    awesome, can’t wait!

  • kroufonz

    I love NISA

  • Croix

NISA is the best. Seriously. It’s like they have the attitude of ‘why not?’ toward localization, and I feel that the way they keep to this is what has earned them such loyalty from their fans, a fierce loyalty recognized by many other publishers who do localization, as I’ve been told.

I can only hope Namco picks up on this and manages some sort of stability of localization with their Tales series in a market that is still running a smidge lean on RPGs yet.

    • kroufonz

namco has not change! just look at this e3 no trailer no detail no booth not even a glimpse of footage in their e3 video show Tales of Graces f meanwhile they pushing inversion with taco truck!

      • Croix

True, amidst the buzz of E3 I’ve not heard a word on the states of the Tales series outside of Japan, and that makes me nervous. Graces and Graces f were pretty high profile games in Japan, right? So if, despite the fans’ best efforts, the game is (eventually) released over here only to flop because they put minimal effort into marketing it after its announcement…maybe I’m just paranoid.

On the other hand, look at the Disgaea series. Epitome of ‘one of those wacky Japanese games’ as some people (outside of Japan) say. And yet, the fans are diehard because NISA never lets us down and treats the fans of the series with respect. I mean, that long trailer for it was amazing!

In other news, I finally platinum’d my copy of Neptunia today, so I’m looking forward to this.

        • Darkrise

It’s not paranoia, it’s a possiblity. Namco has always made poor marketting decisions… It was pretty sad that we didn’t even get to hear a thing about Tales, not even Abyss for 3DS that’s suppose to come out this October/Fall.

          • Guest

Where’s my Gundam vs Gundam Exteme??

        • blah blah

Funny you should mention that, most people I’ve seen around forums and stuff are tired of Disgaea.

          • Ladius

It depends on which forums you read, everywhere I go I see people hyped for Disgaea 4 :p

          • noctis_nox

Blah Blah blah blah. :P Lol

Go GO NISA! I hope they keep doing this. Namco should take notes from them. They give what the fans want.

  • Excellent, not just that it’s coming overseas but that NISA are doing it, the script for the first was hilarious and I really cant wait to see them take on Segata Sanshiro and the like :D

  • Luna Kazemaru

    <3 yay

  • ManaKnight

The game wasn’t perfect, but definitely interesting in ways.¬† I’ll definitely buy it if it comes stateside.

  • DanteJones

My current mental image of Mr. Akenaga:

EDIT: Oop, forgot to say I’m excited for the second game! I liked the first one quite a bit, even if the battle system was a bit dated. :)

  • This is the best news coming from E3 2011.

    Thank you Spencer!

  • NISA is effing amazing!! :D

  • AzureNova

    Thank You God!!!! =^_^=

  • OverlordFuka

Nippon Ichi is freaking amazing! I love their whole company. Weren’t we suppose to get some sort of interview with NIS of America? Or did I miss it?

  • I LOVE NISA! Can’t wait for this game. The first one wasn’t that awesome, but I’m really excited for this sequel – looks like it’s going to be a great game. NISA’s localization of the first game was amazing, too.

  • HistorysGreatestMonster

This is why NISA is probably my favorite company. They are always so good to their fans.

  • HarryHodd

Awesome. I’ve got a fever and the cure is more PS3 JRPGs.

  • Barrit

Keep up the good work NISA!

  • cj_iwakura

Uh, I hate to be a downer, but no one seems to think the first was actually a good game… it’s like ‘yay! the first wasn’t that good but I’ll still get the sequel!’. No hate at NIS though; just Idea Factory.

    • HarryHodd

Well to be fair this one looks way better than the first.

  • Darkrise

NIS is GOD!!! I can’t wait to hear more news.

  • Ladius

NISA always delivers :) I will be happy to day-one Neptunia 2, can’t wait to Inafune-beam my way to victory :P

  • blah blah

With Neptune 1 doing so well, why would NISA pass on 2?

  • Kai2591

I shall remain loyal to NISA forever!

I’ll always buy the premium editions of your games~

  • I’m still early into the first game (just finished Yakuza 4, phew), and while I heard mixed things from different people I’m really enjoying the game. Even the health recovery portion idea that I heard so much about is something that I was able to grasp and thought was interesting how it was used.
So, yes, NISA. Briiiing it! :D

  • They should rerelease the first one so people can get a copy.

  • Crimson_Cloud

If only other companies were like NIS. Seriously, these days I think most of us when we see Japanese announcement we are all like ”Oh God, will I ever see this translated?”. So far, I never had problems with this company.

  • Allerina

Well, as long as they translate it decently and leave the japanese voices in game – I have no problem with them doing it. And they are translating games pretty good, and they leave japanese voices(well, some games did miss some voices for whatever reason, but I just had to play them in japanese). Buuuut…I won’t be buying this one. I’m sick of Idea Factory’s and other’s AP system. They used it tooooo much.

  • Locklear93

    Ah, good.

  • Raharu95

I love ye NIS. Ye never disappoint yer fans. Except maybe with La Pucelle Ragnarok, but that is understandable  ^_^

  • fantastic!

i loved the first one and i will for damn sure be preordering this one aswell.

i hope NIS picks this up (but with 1 doing so well…its almost guaranteed.)
