Weiss Schwarz Portable Also Takes Place At A High School

By Spencer . July 12, 2011 . 8:12am

The popular trading card game Weiss Schwarz is being adapted for PSP. Namco Bandai is working on the title and created a story mode, which is set inside a high school, to tie all of the card battles together. Aria (we’re moving from top left to bottom right) is a genius girl fascinated by the occult. Selina is an easy going girl from Russia. Both of these girls are freshman at Shirokuro Academy. Nana is the daughter of a wealthy family who is bothered by something. Ei is a vocalist who always wears her headphones. She’s a bit of a loner and knows a secret about the school. The bottom two girls are third year students.

Players will explore the campus, which has a quad, cafeteria, store, and track.

The adventure part has event scenes to discover, but the meat of Weiss Schwarz Portable is the trading card half. Namco Bandai packed the game with over 1,000 cards and a tutorial mode to help get new players started.

Not a stereotypical location for a JRPG.

    Not in the slightest.

This would be awesome. All those TCG Video Games were awesome, and something like a story mode/event scenes are exactly what they would need to spruce them up.

  • You lost me at “The popular trading card game”

  • It’s not that I like card battles, but I’m interested at this approach towards them. I wonder if there’s going to be some crazy plot, or if it’s going to be a dating sim type thing?

  • this looks more and more awesome. i love bushiroad’s corporate mascot girl, Shoko-tan! i love how she seems to be the tutorial guide-girl.

  • Original characters when they have the licenses for all the characters on the cards?
