By Ishaan . August 9, 2011 . 10:02am

Following yesterday’s reveal of Durga the cybernetic tiger-person, Sega and PlatinumGames revealed another playable Anarchy Reigns character today — Garuda, a Transformer-type robot that can turn into a power drill:

Anarchy Reigns is currently planned for release sometime in early 2012.

  • Hooray for more awesomeness! ^_^

    I Caamme!!

how many playable characters so far i lost count??
    also Bayonetta cameo anyone?

    • I forgot the number but there will be about 17 in total I believe

  • ForeverFidelis

“Hide your wife, Hide your husband”

Usually references to that guy bug me

But in this case, it’s pretty funny for some reason

Also Garuda’s an allusion to Transformers and Gurren Lagann at the same time?

    This is gonna be great.

Honestly though I’d be irate if I was a Madworld fan who owned a Wii exclusively.

    • Trust me as much as I love Mad World. At one point I almost decided to just have a Wii exclusively glad I thought that through. Also drills have been in Super Robot anime since the beginning of time :P.

    • Exkaiser

Transforming and using drills as weapons are pretty age-old Mecha tropes…

      • ForeverFidelis

Whoops. I don’t have much experience with the genre.

        • Exkaiser

Allow me to… DRILL you on it.

          • ForeverFidelis

            I think I get the…POINT

          • LynxAmali

Oh god, that was bad. Both you and Exkaiser should be banned for those. That was awful. Many thanks for the laugh though.

As for Garuda; I need this game. Like…NEED. Release date?

According to wikipedia, someone spotted a “Crocodile Monster” as well in the trailers.

That makes 5 Madworld characters and maybe 7 new ones.  It makes me wonder how many characters there are now.

  • ok after he transformed right into a jump kick and the “hide ur wife” bit this game is officially a MUST HAVE…platinum games is the only developer i look forward to hearing from this generation

  • The game was already looking awesome.

Now it seems Sega broke my awesome meter. Looks like I need to make a new one.

  • Göran Isacson

    A transforming drill-plane-tank bot.

I think I’m in love with this game now. I just HOPE he has a fun personality to boot, and isn’t just a brain-less robot. Maybe something like HK-47… with this and a cyborg ninja and a guy with a revolver leg, I think someone on Platinum is REALLY fond of robots and mechanics.

WOW, my Christmas starts in January 2012!

  • There’s another new character that just showed up, Isshan. Durga.

EDIT: Whoops, never mind. Didn’t see the last few posts. :o

  • I like the say “Hide you wife, Hide Husband they are drillin everybody out here” and ” Keep your pimp hand strong and your gear fresh to death”  this game is sooo awsome.

    • PrinceHeir

      hell yeah :)

would love to see Shinobi(from Sega) but that would be too much to ask

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Sexy girls, cyborgs, ninjas, and transforming robots? How could this game not be a day 1 purchase? Add in dinosaurs and this would be the manliest game ever made.

  • your blowing my mind sega !

  • This game looks so meh. It just looks so grungy and blurred. Like Platinum doesn’t really know how to make a current gen game…or at least this team (and hey, if it’s the Mad World team, than there’s a great chance this is, in fact, their first HD console game).

Vanquish was frickin’ amazing though, so I’ll keep an eye on it. But Madworld blew. And Bayonetta played pretty well, but was really undone by how retarded it was (presentation, universe, characters, music…take your pick) and how awful a character design she was. They’re up to 2 strikes in my book….but sh**, Vanquish was just soooooo damn good. What are they going to do next? Another  amazing game, or another disappointment? They’re a very inconsistent developer. Also, Shinji Mikami is no longer with him (how DID they get him for Vanquish, anyway?), so I have no idea what psycho is directing their games now. Probably the goon that made Bayonetta so stupid.
