Rumour: The Last Story To See A Name Change In Europe As Well?

Before Nintendo of Europe had the chance to announce their name change for Fortune Street (titled Boom Street in Europe), another website managed to leak the info and approximate release date last week…along with a couple of other rumours.

Rumour #2 in the same batch was that The Last Story will undergo a name change in Europe as well. The game will allegedly be titled “The Last World” in Europe, and is planned for release in late February. As of last week’s promotions, Nintendo of Europe were still referring to the game as The Last Story.

The last rumour in the batch is that Inazuma Eleven 2 is headed to Europe as well, and is planned for release at the end of January. In Japan, Inazuma Eleven 2 was released in Fire and Blizzard versions, but there’s no news of whether that will carry over to Europe.

The Last Story is a much better name, I hope they stick with that. Not to mention the change seems very unnecessary, though they did throw a “Chronicles” onto Xenoblade for some reason.

  • Suicunesol

I don’t like the name change much either. I think even “Last Story Chronicles” would be better than “The Last World”.

  • epy

I don’t care if they end up calling it “The Merry Adventures of Elza and Friends”, the great thing here is that Europe is getting it and I’m importing it.

    • Gatchaman1

His name’s not Elza anymore. Elza is an old German word for woman so they renamed him to Zael.

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_J24UY7QAEKQY576PHZYS3EN6BA Celine

Which honestly I like better than Elza XD; It bugged me so much when I first read it. I think that might be just me though.

  • aoihana

I don’t know, I feel like The Last World sounds a little too much like a Jurassic Park remake ^o^

Regardless, like @epy:disqus said, you can pretty much call it whatever you want, it’s still an epic game. And it’ll always be The Last Story in my heart o (◡‿◡✿)

Can’t the just rename Quark and leave the game’s title alone?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1631364954 Danton McCreadie

I’ll be honest, considering the promotional site HAS been named as The Last Story, I doubt they are gonna change things there.

What I think this rumour might actually relate to, would be the DS Ni no Kuni. A bit of a stretch but it’s something right?

    • Solomon_Kano

Considering that we already know the title of the PS3 version and it’s a different version of the same game, why would they drastically change the title like that?

Moreover, this is about a batch of NOE rumours. How would a game that Namdai is publishing get confused into this?

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1631364954 Danton McCreadie

Namdai is publishing the PS3 version, yes. However, Nintendo could very well have received the publishing rights for the DS version as, from my understanding, while both retain the same story setups, Level-5 made both games completely different from each other. Each games story developments, graphics and gameplay are different.

Plus, with Nintendo of Europe being awesome recently, I’d think they might actually bring the DS version of Ni no Kuni round. It’s a very unique game, what with it coming with it’s own hardback spellbook for use with the game, especially in this age of gaming. It’s a unique selling point that may work in favour for NoE.

Anyway, while I admit that my take on the rumour is a bit of a stretch, it’s not too odd to see different publishers for seperate versions of this game if something was worked out between the business partners. Perhaps both Level 5 and Ghibli worked something out between the publishers. Whatever the case, we won’t know until NoE say something.

        • Solomon_Kano

Indeed, they have differences in gameplay, graphics, and so on.

I’m not saying NOE won’t bring it, but I’d imagine that Namdai may be looking into it themselves. But yea, if not, NOE’s probably gonna be on top of that.

As for it not being too odd, I can’t really agree or disagree with that. I’ve never seen that happen, but I suppose it’s not impossible with the roll that NOE’s been on lately. Nintendo in general has a favorable relationship with Level-5 and NOE is, if this rumor pans out, continuing to bring their series to Europe. Them bringing it isn’t a stretch at all, but them bringing it when another publisher has its console counterpart is what gives me pause.

But if it’s happened before, I suppose it could happen again. Especially given the previously mentioned Lvl-5/Nintendo connection.

  • badmoogle

I prefer the original title much more but it’s not a big a deal…still i’d be curious to know the real reason behind such a (pointless) decision.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/GuiltyRaioh ShinkaRaioh

Don’t care about title changes at all, what I care about tho is the rumour of Inazuma Eleven 2!! God, I hope it is true!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Farid-Belkacemi/1073052585 Farid Belkacemi

I don’t think TLS rumour is true, there’s no change on the nintendo website (FR version at least) & during the Paris Games Week the game keeps its name ;) Plus, it was already translated in french.

But I do hope there’s some truth concerning Inazuma Eleven 2, even though I’m more interested in the GO version :p

No offence but i find that “The Last …..” in any title just sound crap and cliché.

    alternative
    The Final Story
    The Final Story not fantasy

    • Exkaiser

      The Final World.

    • http://zerodestinypro.blogspot.com/ Zero_Destiny

No way my game has the last in the title and it sounds simply amazing. <3 No title can ever be as awesome as The Secret Final Tales of the Last Hearts’ End and their Magnificent Story Woven from Nothing but BURNING PASSION: HD COLLECTOR’S EDITION & EIGHT YEAR ANNIVERSARY EDITION. ALSO THIS GAME WAS GAME OF THE MONTH THREE YEARS AGO EDITION II. Best title ever if I do say so myself.

I just wish someone would confirm a release date in Australia for Last Story now that our crummy ratings board have given it a rating. No retailer I have spoken too has ever heard of it.

  • MrRobbyM

I hope so. The Last Story just sounds so generic, as if there was almost no thought put into the title.

    • James Beatty

      Last Story=Final fantasy
      last=final
      story=(usually related to fantasy)

    • Monsley

Well, “The Last World” is very unoriginal as well, if not more…

      • MrRobbyM

Let’s just agree that “The Last” anything is unoriginal.

  • landlock

So that’s FFXIII-2, Tales of Graces and The Last Story all in Febuary. Yikes…

    • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/HAEBCODVH3BGFIHE47BKNDXD2I Jonathan

      don’t worry about it

the 2 latter games are all you should buy anyway

    • Hraesvelgr

We don’t even know if ToGf is coming out in February or not, actually.

  • Solomon_Kano

The Last World? Bleh. I’ll take the original. The obvious reworking of Final Fantasy for another title was awesome to me.

  • Croix

Whatever they call it, I am looking forward to playing it.

  • LezardValeth

Looks like Nintendo of America doesn’t want my money after all huh? Guess I’ll just be modding my Wii and downloading the European version. I aint even mad.

    • Solomon_Kano

Or you could mod your Wii and, y’know, import it. Sounds like you’d have supported NOA, so why not support NOE since they did the work of getting the game in English?

      • LezardValeth

        NO U.

        • Solomon_Kano

I see… so will that be PayPal or credit?

    • Monsley

      Wow, you’re so badass!

    • http://www.siliconera.com Ishaan

Banned. No piracy talk around here, please.

  • AzureNova

I don’t care what they call it, I just want to play it. ^_^

  • http://www.facebook.com/JaeWhy SasuleUchiha

No big deal , as long as it’s English and I can understand it

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_J24UY7QAEKQY576PHZYS3EN6BA Celine

    INAZUMA ELEVEN 2 PLEEEEEASE T____T

And I could care less what they call The Last Story. Europe is on a role with these. Now if American would only follow suit I would have to steal my friend’s PAL version Wii every other week.

     >Inazuma Eleven 2
I WILL BUY FOUR COPIES. TWO OF EACH VERSION. WHY? I DON’T FUCKING KNOW, I JUST WANT MORE IE IN ENGLISH

  • http://bluehighwind.blogspot.com/ BlueHighwind

I’ve been looking forward to this game for years.  No matter what the name, I’d play it.

Unfortunately I have a certain geographic problem, so I’m completely screwed.  I guess its FFXIII-2 for me instead.  Not as good by any measure, but Square Enix is willing to do business, Nintendo is full of jackasses.

    • icecoffemix

Completely screwed means nothing you can do to get the game, unless you’re living on some remote island in the midle of pacific ocean, I find that hard to believe this days and age.

  • Michael Vincent

The Last Story for me sounds a bit so Japanese rpg-ish. Lol. “The Last World” makes it sound like a bit European.

I mean in the sense of you know, the terms in our history subjects – “new world” referring to America and the “Old World” referring to Europe. I don’t know what I’m getting at. o.o

  • http://www.facebook.com/wahyudilestadi Wahyudi Lestadi

the last world … it sounds like an post apocalyptic game …
